CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The 2025 Chattanooga Outdoor Track and Field season opens this Friday and Saturday at the Lee University Invitational at the Ray Conn Sports Complex in Cleveland, Tenn.
Â
"It's only appropriate that as spring arrives this weekend the Mocs turn their attention to the outdoor season at Lee University in Cleveland, Tenn.," assistant coach Patrick Gildea said. "We have a full slate of competition ahead of us and we're looking forward to giving it a go. The weather and competition should align so we're hoping for a productive weekend."
Â
While the majority of events Friday are dedicated to the heptathlon (women) and decathlon (men), the Mocs will get started with the women's 800 meter run at 4:45 p.m. The 200 meter dash is slated for a 5:50 p.m. start and Chattanooga's day will end with the 10,000 meter run with seven UTC runners highlighted by Lesley Boyd.
Â
Saturday gets started with the men's 5000 meter at 9:45 a.m. with the women's race to follow at 10:35 a.m. The high jump gets going at Noon and the women's 100 meter hurdles runs at 1:05 p.m. followed by the 400 meter dash, long jump, 100 meter dash and 400 meter hurdles.
Â
The Steeplechase gets underway at 4:00 p.m. followed by the 4x400 meter relay and the men's and women's 1500 meter runs to round up the competition.
Â
"Our women are coming off an indoor season that has everyone motivated for more," Gildea said. "This group also understands that this is another step in the direction that we ultimately want to move.
Â
"For our men, it's an opportunity to see where they are after a long winter of training following a successful cross country season. With only a few hiccups along the way, they are all eager to toe the line.
