First Look: The Chattanooga Mocs are in fifth through 36 holes of the Southern Conference Championships in Lake Oconee Village, Ga. Today's round was a level-par 288 for a 2-day total of 573, 3-under par.
 
Camden Braidech and Braedon Wear were the individual leaders. The pair turned in twin 70s which were three better than Ethan Whitaker's 73. Dalton Chuba was next with 75 as Garrett Engle had the drop at 76.
 
Engle leads the group at 2 under for the two days. He's tied for 11th, one clear of Braidech and Wear in 15th with 1-under 143s. Whitaker sits at 147 which a stroke ahead of Chuba's 148.
 
UNCG and ETSU are tied for first with matching 862 totals. Western Carolina is four behind at 566 ahead of Furman in fourth at 568. The Mocs are fifth ahead of sixth-place Samford' 577. Wofford is next at 580 with Mercer close behind at 581.

What to Know

• Is an 11-stroke deficit is too great to overcome? The Mocs came back from 10 down after 36 holes to win the Bentwater Intercollegiate in February.
• The Mocs were 2 under at the turn and 2 over on the back. 6 under on the front this week and 3 over on holes 10-18. They start on 10 Tuesday paired with Samford with the first tee time coming at 8 a.m.
• 43rd career par or better card for Wear. That's ninth all-time at Chattanooga breaking a tie with Bryce Ledford '07 and Chris Robb '14. Former teammate John Houk '24 is two ahead of him with 45.
• Wear's sixth par or better 18 in the SoCon Championships. That's tied for third behind Stephan Jaeger '12 (8) and another former teammate Paul Conroy '24 (7).
• If Wear elevates into the top 5 on Tuesday, he'll become the seventh Moc all-time with multiple top 5s in the event. The record is three by Conroy and Steven Fox '13.
• Wear's 12th par or better round of the season which leads the team by one over Braidech who got his 11th.
• 9th straight par or better team round at the Oconee Course. 58 under for those eight cards, a 281.56 average.
• 6 under again today on the par 5s. 1 under on the par 3s in a 9-shot improvement on that foursome of holes. 
• +7 on the par 4s today has the group 2 over on the 4s for the week. Have played par or better on par 4s in two events this season - Ross Intercollegiate (-3) & Battle at Briar's Creek (-2).
