Evan Rogers blew past a strong field at the Trinity Forest Invitational to capture his third career win leading the Chattanooga Mocs into the top 3.
Chattanooga Mocs sophomore Evan Rogers put together a phenomenal performance at the Trinity Forest Invitational. He captured his second win of 2026-27 and third overall earning Southern Conference Golfer of the Week accolades.
Sophomore Evan Rogers shot rounds of 68, 69 and a scintillating final round 63 to capture a 4-stroke victory USC's Deitrek Gill who was shooting for a wire-to-wire win. Rogers trailed by five to Gill headed into the final 18, but Rogers was up to the task.
He was 1 over through four before rattling of five straight birdies to make the turn at 11 under. A trio of birdies on holes 12-14 put him into position for the win. He put the exclamation point on it with an eagle on the par 5 16th.
The performance is even more impressive when considering the past. Rogers missed a putt on the 18th hole at Trinity Forest that would have qualified him for match play at the U.S. Junior.
"That makes this win even sweeter being at Trinity Forest," Coach Blaine Woodruff said. "Two summers ago, I watched him bogey 18 to the exact same pin to miss match play by one. To see him come back and do this out there and walk away with a dominating win is an impressive redemption story, but it also just shows me how much he's grown mentally and as a player."
Rogers shares this week's honor with B.J. Boyce of UNCG. Boyce won the Blessings Collegiate Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark.

"What an impressive performance by the team that final round. But Ev led the charge. He's special. He was 1 over through four, and as we walked up #5 he talked about how good his game felt and how he just needed to be patient. So proud of his growth and not feeling the need to press and get it back. He proceeded to make seven birdies and an eagle on the way in and never once looked at the board. He just wanted to execute the best he could, and whatever that led to was going to be enough for him." – Woodruff
