SPARTANBURG, S.C. --- Chattanooga held off No. 5 Mercer's late charge Thursday in extra innings to advance to the next round of the Southern Conference Tournament. The Mocs will take on third-seeded Samford Friday morning at Hope Field.
 
The Bulldogs mounted a comeback of their own and held on to the lead to upset the Spartans.

The Mocs and Bulldogs have met 81 times with UTC holding a 53-28 advantage. In SoCon play, it's much closer with the Mocs leading 25-20. Chattanooga has won the last seven meetings including two series sweeps and the 2024 SoCon Tournament.
