First Look: The Chattanooga Mocs are off and running in the summer of 2025. The men's golf program boasts wins, strong finishes and top-flight qualifications with the cherry on top coming with new alum Carson Johnson '25 teeing off this morning on the PGA Tour at the ISCO Championship in Louisville, Ky. From alums to returnees to incoming players, it's been a great summer for the squad looking to get back into national contention in 2025-26.

Johnson on Tour
The newly-minted Signal Mountain High School Head Golf Coach decided to make the trip to Louisville, Ky., to try to Monday qualify for the ISCO Championship. It was his first attempt to make a PGA Tour start and honestly, in the spirit of Louisville's famed Kentucky Derby, it was a long shot. Johnson needed to get through a pre-qualifier on Friday just to get his chance to face groups of seasoned qualifiers as well as some Louisville Cardinals past and present with significant experience at the University of Louisville Golf Course hosting the free-for-all.
 
He shot 6-under 66 and was one of three tied behind the event winner at 8 under. They waited as a few rolled into 18 at 5 under looking for birdie and a shot in a playoff with just four total spots available. They fell by the wayside and now he get to be the second Moc making a PGA Tour start in 2024-25. The first of course is former All-American Stephan Jaeger '12 who is currently ranked in the top 60 in the world.
 
Burts Wins
Rising junior Dalton Burts set the early standard in June. He won the Yellowhammer Invitational behind continuous improvement from card-to-card. Burts opened with 70, added a 69 on moving day and closed with 68 for his 9-under 207 at the RTJ Golf Trail's Grand National Course in Opelika, Ala. Teammate Aidan Cohl tied for 14th.
 
Big Dance Cards
Four Mocs are into the final qualifying stage for the U.S. Amateur. They include returnees Burts and Ethan Whitaker along with incoming freshmen Evan Rogers and Griffin Law. This year's Am is August 11-17 at famed Olympic Club in San Francisco.
 
The Mocs look to break the 13-year drought since Steven Fox's 2012 triumph at Cherry Hills.
 
Rogers could make it a USGA double. He's headed to the 77th U.S. Junior Am, July 21-26, at Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas.
