Little Earns 1st SoCon Honor

AJ Little

AJ Little captured Southern Conference Special Teams Player of the Week helping spark the Chattanooga Mocs to a weekend win over Stetson

First Look
Chattanooga Mocs sophomore wide receiver AJ Little earned his first Southern Conference honor winning Week 3's Special Teams Player of the Week. Little had one of two returns for touchdown in the 63-0 win over Stetson. His 59-yard punt return made it a 14-0 score after two drives and took the air out early for the Hatters.

Coaches Corner
"Really happy for AJ. He had the first punt return for touchdown here in almost 14 years. AJ made the first guy miss, got free, took advantage of a couple of key blocks and made a play. It was a big part of a really good start to the game for us." – Coach Rusty Wright

Breakdown
  • Little's 59-yard first quarter punt return for touchdown is the first since Sept. 27, 2014. That was a 66-yard effort by Tommy Hudson in a win over Samford in Finley Stadium.
  • Little had three returns for 65 yards (22.7). Both are career highs.
  • Not to be outdone, fellow wideout and return artist Markell Quick also scored returning the opening kickoff of the second half 91 yards for the score. It was the first time since Nov. 7, 1992 that the Mocs returned two kicks for scores. That came against ETSU with Jerry Ellison scoring on kickoffs from 92 and 94 yards, respectively.
  • This week's offensive player of the week nominee was QB Camden Orth. He was one of three Mocs with 100 yards rushing which was just the second time for the program having a trio achieve the standard in the game (1978 vs App State). His five TD involvements – three rushing/two passing – was one off the school record.
  • The defensive player of the week nominee was KJ Sejour. He had a Mocs season-high three pass breakups in just his second career start. His defense held Stetson to 126 yards, which are the fewest yards allowed since 120 by ETSU on Oct. 21, 2023. His secondary limited the Hatters to 97 pass yards – fewest since 44 at The Citadel last Nov. 9. They completed 20 of 34 passing averaging 2.85 yards per attempt and 4.85 yards per completion.
