Men’s Tennis Defeats Tennessee State 6-1 on Sunday

The Chattanooga Mocs men’s tennis team picked up its first victory of the new spring campaign with a controlling effort over the Tigers.

CHATTANOOGA (February 15, 2026) – The Chattanooga Mocs men's tennis team earned its first win of the 2026 spring season after posting a 6-1 victory over Tennessee State during non-conference action inside the Strang-Voges Tennis Center on Sunday evening.
 
After the victory, Chattanooga improves to 1-3 in the young 2026 season. Tennessee State fell to 0-5 overall following Sunday's defeat.
 
Match Recap
At No. 1 doubles, Cortland Grove and Jakub Jupa cruised to a 6-0 win over Taj Hibbert and Mete Koseoglu before Jaxon Lamb and Carter Ramthun followed suit on court No. 3 with a point-clinching 6-3 win over Alexander Adamec and James Adler Germinal. The No. 2 pairing of Julian Franzmann and Kristof Kincses finished things with a 7-5 victory over Christopher Bogelin and Tatenda Mutetwa.
 
In singles competition, UTC's TJ Ryerson quickly put another point on the board, defeating Mutetwa 6-1, 6-3 at the No. 6 slot before Grove extended the lead with a 7-6 (7-5), 6-2 win over Koseoglu at No. 3. Kincses picked up the team's fourth point and clinched the match a hard-earned, straight-set victory (7-5, 6-2) against Bogelin at No. 5.
 
Franzmann edged past Germinal, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 2 before Tennessee State managed to claim a point on court No. 1 as Hibbert posted a 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 win over Jupa. Martin Delnido closed the match with a comeback win at No. 4, defeating Adamec 2-6, 6-4, 6-3, sealing the commanding 6-1 victory.
