Men's Basketball Shoots Past The Citadel 93-72 in Charleston

The Chattanooga Mocs men’s basketball team shot north of 60% from the field for the second-straight game which marks the first such occurrence for the program since 1993.

CHARLESTON, S.C. (February 21, 2026) – Behind an electric start and hot shooting performance, the Chattanooga Mocs men's basketball team earned its second-straight victory after a 93-72 win at The Citadel inside McAlister Fieldhouse in Charleston, S.C., during late-season Southern Conference action.
 
Following the win, Chattanooga improves to 12-17 overall and improves its league record to 6-10 with two games remaining. The Citadel drops its fourth-straight game and moves to 9-20 overall and a similar 6-10 inside SoCon play. UTC holds the seeding tiebreaker, if needed, over The Citadel ahead of the upcoming SoCon Tournament.

Head coach Dan Earl, who is in his fourth season at Chattanooga, earned his 80th victory as the program's bench boss following today's victory over the Bulldogs. It also marked Earl's 40th regular season SoCon victory during his UTC tenure.

Game Breakdown
  • Chattanooga raced out of the gates with a commanding 36-12 (7:52) lead after connecting on 75.0% (15-of-20) of its shot attempts including a 66.7% (6-of-9) start from three. The hot start featured a 25-0 run that went from a 4-4 tie to a 29-4 UTC lead.
  • The incredible shooting start continued over the next few minutes as Chattanooga held a 47-21 (3:50) lead with eight different Mocs finding themselves on the scoresheet.
  • The Citadel controlled the Chattanooga offensive attack and held the unit scoreless over the final three-plus minutes of the half as the guests entered the halftime break leading 50-29.
  • The Bulldogs rolled over the momentum to the first five minutes of the second half as the squad cut its deficit to 18, 60-42 (14:39), with a strong rebounding effort.
  • Collin Mulholland connected on his first triple of the game to push the UTC lead back to 17, 68-51 (10:49), before The Citadel trimmed it back down to 13, 69-56 (7:55), behind multiple second-chance opportunities.
  • Teddy Washington Jr. connected on a pull-up jumper before Jordan Frison finished at the rim one possession later, providing crucial buckets to keep UTC ahead by a safe distance, 77-59 (5:45).
  • Chattanooga finished the contest with a balanced effort on both sides of the floor to escape McAlister Fieldhouse with the 93-72 victory.
