SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Tuesday afternoon,
Caia Elisaldez was named SoCon Player of the Week by the league office. It's the second time this season, and the fourth time in her career that she has won this award. This is the second week in a row that Chattanooga has had a player win this honor, after
Gianna Corbitt earned it last week.Â
Elisaldez was Chattanooga's leading scorer in their home wins over Western Carolina (20 points) and UNC Greensboro (19 points), keeping the Mocs in first place in the SoCon standings. In the win against UNCG, Elisaldez helped fuel a fourth-quarter comeback, scoring 10 points and dishing out three assists in the final 10 minutes of a 56-54 win.Â
For the week, the junior guard averaged 19.5 points, 4.5 assists, and four rebounds per game. Elisaldez was 56% (14-25) from the field and 71.4% (10-14) at the free-throw line across the two games.Â
Elisaldez and the rest of the Chattanooga Women's Basketball team close out the regular season this week with two road games. The Mocs travel to Samford on Thursday before taking on Mercer on Saturday.Â
