CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The Chattanooga Mocs Beach Volleyball team begins the 2026 season this weekend at the Wheeler Beach Bash in Columbia, South Carolina. UTC is scheduled for two games on Friday and two games on Saturday. The Sandy Mocs are testing themselves early against stiff competition that already started their season a week ago.Â

Scouting Coastal CarolinaÂ
The Chanticleers were receiving votes in the AVCA Preseason Poll before beginning their season at the Beach Burrow Bash in Boca Raton, Florida, last weekend. During this tournament, Coastal went 1-3 with its lone win coming against Division II Palm Beach Atlantic. Coastal's losses all came by a 3-2 score, to then-No. 15 FAU, Boise State, and FIU, the latter two of whom were receiving votes.Â
Chattanooga is 0-3 all-time against Coastal Carolina... The last meeting was on 3/3/24 in Columbia, where the Mocs fell 0-5.
Scouting Texas A&M - Corpus Christi
The Islanders began their 2026 campaign last weekend at the Green Wave Invitational in New Orleans, Louisiana. Corpus Christi went 1-3, but its lone win came against then-No. 20 Tulane, 4-1. In the win, the Islanders won three of their four matches in straight sets. Corpus Christi lost to Oregon (2-3), USF (2-3), and then-No. 12 LSU (1-4).Â
Friday's match between Corpus Christi and Chattanooga will be the first meeting between the two programs.Â
Scouting South Carolina
South Carolina, the tournament hosts, comes into the weekend with a 2-2 record and is receiving votes in the AVCA Rankings. At the Dolphin Duals in Jacksonville, Florida, the Gamecocks took down then-No. 17 North Florida 3-2 in the opening match of the weekend, winning the No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4 slots. USC also took down Jacksonville 4-1 for its other win of the weekend. The Gamecocks were defeated by then-No. 14 Stetson and Florida Gulf Coast, who are receiving votes.Â
USC won the only meeting between the two schools in 2024 by a score of 4-1 in Columbia.
Scouting Austin Peay
The Govs had a strong start to their 2026 season, going 3-1 at the Grand Sands Tournament in Cincinnati, Ohio. They picked up wins over Morehead State, Division II Tusculum, and Liberty. Austin Peay's lone loss came to Eastern Kentucky by a 5-0 score. Their No. 1 pair of Isabella Russell and Grace Austin led the Govs with a 3-1 record.Â
Chattanooga and Austin Peay have played 13 times, with the Mocs holding an 8-5 record in those games... The Mocs won both of their meetings in 2025 and have won five in a row in the series.Â
Scouting Chattanooga
The Mocs start the 2026 season after a 26-6 record in 2025, with 26 wins setting a school record for most wins in a season. Chattanooga was OVC Regular Season and Tournament Champions as they earned a berth into the NCAA Tournament for the second year in a row. The Mocs return six All-OVC players from last season:
