Sandy Mocs Start Home Slate With OVC Weekend

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Beach Volleyball in the Ohio Valley Conference comes to the UTC Sports Complex this weekend, as the Sandy Mocs host the first OVC Weekend of the year. It also marks the first home matches of the 2026 season for Chattanooga, who sits at 6-3 and 1-0 in OVC play on the year. 

Each of the six OVC Beach Volleyball teams will play four matches this weekend. In total, 12 matches across Friday and Saturday are scheduled. The full list of matches with games times and live stats links are listed below. 

Friday
8 a.m.: UT Martin vs. Morehead State (Live Stats)
10 a.m.: Tennessee Tech vs. Chattanooga (Live Stats)
12 p.m.: Morehead State vs. Eastern Illinois (Live Stats)
2 p.m.: Chattanooga vs. Lindenwood (Live Stats) - Bucket Hat Giveaway
4 p.m.: Eastern Illinois vs. UT Martin (Live Stats)
6 p.m.: Lindenwood vs. Tennessee Tech (Live Stats)

Saturday
8 a.m.: Chattanooga vs. Eastern Illinois (Live Stats)
10 a.m.: Lindenwood vs. Morehead State (Live Stats)
12 p.m.: Eastern Illinois vs. Tennessee Tech (Live Stats)
2 p.m.: UT Martin vs. Lindenwood (Live Stats)

Scouting Chattanooga
Chattanooga has won six matches in a row, and defeated OVC rival, UT Martin, 3-2 in its last match to start conference play with a win. In total, the Sandy Mocs have won 20 straight regular season OVC matches, dating back to 2024. Each of UTC's pairs this season have winning records, led by the No. 4 duo of Taylor Clark and Ashli McKenny who are 8-1. McKenna Faychak and Maddie Lecik at No. 1, and Ansley Gulledge and Sydney Jackwin at No. 2, are each 6-3 for Head Coach Darin Van Horn's side. 

Scouting Tennesee Tech
The Golden Eagles come to the Scenic City with a 2-13 record and an 0-2 mark in OVC play. Tech's lone wins on the year are against Division III schools LaGrange and Salem. On March 19, Tech played Morehead State in a doubleheader to begin OVC play, falling in both matches by a combined scored of 9-1. The Golden Eagles' No. 1 pair, MK Roberts and Vivian Robards, has been their most successful duo, picking up four wins this year. 

Chattanooga is 8-0 all-time against Tennessee Tech, in a series that dates back to 2023.

Scouting Lindenwood
Lindenwood has had a good start to the 2026 season, as it is 10-4 overall and 1-0 in league play. Most recently, the Lions went 2-2 at the Battle on the Bay in St. Petersburg, Florida, with wins over Tusculum and Florida Southern, before falling to Eckerd and Palm Beach Atlantic in five-set matches. Lindenwood is led by Nyah Wilson and Susana Beretti who are 10-2, playing in the No. 1 and No. 2 positions while Abby Jones and Annalie McWhorter have also played in the No. 1 and No. 2 slots, and are 10-3. 

The Sandy Mocs are 10-0 all-time against Lindenwood in a series that dates back to 2023. 

Scouting Eastern Illinois
The Panthers have played just five matches on the year and hold a 1-4 record. They've played one OVC Match, falling to Lindendwood 5-0 on Mar. 7. This was EIU's last mach it has played, just under three weeks ago. The Panthers' lone win came on Feb. 21 against McKendree 5-0. 

Chattanooga is 8-0 all-time against Eastern Illinois in a series that began in 2022. 

Scouting Morehead State
Morehead State, who is UTC's final opponent of the weekend, is 4-9 on the year, and 2-0 in OVC play with a pair of wins over Tennessee Tech. The Eagles' last weekend tournament came Mar. 13-14 at the Coastal Carolina Invitational, where it went 1-3. Morehead State's best players so far this season have been Shea Hefner who is 9-4 and M.E. Hargan, who holds an 8-5 record. Both players have been paired together and with different teammates this year in the No. 1 and No. 2 positions for Morehead State. 

Chattanooga is 7-6 all-time against Morehead State in a series that dates back to 2021. Chattanooga has won four in a row in the series, all by a score of 5-0.
