CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The Sandy Mocs were back at the UTC Sports Complex on Friday for day one of the Scenic City Showdown, taking on UT Martin and Georgia State. In UTC's morning match, it took care of business, defeating the Skyhawks 5-0 for a key OVC win. In the afternoon, the Sandy Mocs were not as fortunate, falling 0-5 to Georgia State to end their 14-match winning streak. Three of the matches against Georgia State went three sets.Â
With Stanford's loss to USC earlier in the day, Chattanooga briefly held the nation's longest active winning streak at 14 games before falling to Georgia State. The loss in the afternoon couldn't overshadow the milestone broken in the morning, though, by
McKenna Faychak. The senior picked up her 76th career win, passing 2025 graduate
Neva Clark as UTC's all-time leader in wins.Â
The Friday split moves UTC to 14-4 on the season and 6-0 in league play, alone in first place atop the OVC standings. Georgia State is now 16-15 while UT Martin is 10-5 and 3-3 in OVC play.Â

Quote
Head Coach Darin Van Horn
On McKenna Faychak breaking the school record for most wins
"She's been here since her freshman year, contributing at a high level, and, for her to break the record, I'm proud of her. I'm happy for her. I think she's somebody who would deserve it with all that she's given to this program, and, you know, the way the team responds to her."
Up Next: Chattanooga takes on North Alabama (8 a.m.), Eastern Kentucky (2 p.m.), and Berry (6 p.m.) tomorrow on the final day of the Scenic City Showdown. The Sandy Mocs will honor their four seniors prior to the Eastern Kentucky match.Â
