Softball Hosts Jax State in Final Non-Conference Game

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga softball team plays its final non-conference game Wednesday hosting Jacksonville State at Frost Stadium. The game begins at 5:00 p.m. and gates open one hour prior.

CHATTANOOGA vs. JACKSONVILLE STATE
Chattanooga leads the series 28-16 dating back to the start of the program in 1994. UTC has won four of the last five, but fell 8-0 in five innings earlier this season in Jacksonville. In Chattanooga, UTC is 17-5 against the Gamecocks.
 
ABOUT CHATTANOOGA
The Mocs are 18-24-1 on the year and 12-6-1 at home. They are hitting .298 as a team with 327 hits that include 16 home runs, seven triples and 53 doubles. Baileigh Pitts leads the Mocs with a .381 batting average that includes five home runs, nine doubles, a pair of triples, 26 RBI and 22 walks. She has a .603 slugging percentage, a .468 on base percentage has four sac flies, three sac hits and is 3-for-3 on steals. Ava Cowart is hitting .371 and is 14-of-15 on the base paths. She has 49 hits and has scored a team-best 30 runs. Anna Dovey is hitting .350 and Mia Leone leads the Mocs with five home runs and 34 RBI.
 
In the circle, Taylor Long leads the Southern Conference with a 8.5 strikeouts per seven innings and is third with 139 strikeouts on the year. She has a .263 opponent batting average and eight wins. Emery Bales has seven wins for the Mocs in 26 appearances and 13 starts along with two saves.
 
ABOUT JACKSONVILLE STATE
The Gamecocks are 35-12 on the season and will take on Alabama State on the road tonight (Tuesday, April 21). JSU is hitting .305 as a team with 31 home runs, nine triples and 85 doubles. Emma Elrod leads the way with a .365 batting average and has 57 hits with four home runs, 1 triple and 14 doubles. She has driving in 32 runs and scored 45. Morgan Nowakowski is hitting .354 with 52 hits and Amber Reed is hitting .350 in 37 games played. Makalyn Kyser has a team-best 41 RBI and seven home runs and a .516 slugging percentage.
 
In the circle, the Gamecocks combine for a 3.50 ERA. Makenna Moore leads the staff with a 2.56 ERA and is 14-1 in 20 starts and 24 appearances. She has nine complete games under her belt, two shutouts and one save. She has 101 strikeouts in 117.2 innings pitched and a .202 opponent batting average.
