Rogers, Men’s Golf Sweep Titles at Racer Intercollegiate

(L-R): Asst. Coach Ryan Hogan, Asst. Coach Billy Kennerly, Ward Harris, Griffin Law, Evan Rogers, Ethan Whitaker, Camden Braidech & Coach Blaine Woodruff

The Chattanooga Mocs won for the first time in 2025-26 sweeping team and medalist honors at the Racer Intercollegiate.

Overview
The Chattanooga Mocs men's golf team ran away with the Racer Intercollegiate title. The Mocs won by 20 over runner-up North Dakota State and were 25 clear of the third-place duo of Dayton and host Murray State. The win was powered by an individual title as well for freshman Evan Rogers, his first as a collegian.

Quotable
"This one was different. This is a younger group, a different group. They were kind of thrown into the fire this year with our schedule. This was a little bit weaker of a field compared to our earlier events, but I don't know if that really makes it that much easier because it's a different type of pressure that you feel when you're the team that's supposed to win on paper. It was a new thing for these guys. We felt it in the practice round and kind of had to talk about it and just get it out there and really focus on doing our thing and whatever that led to, we were going to be okay." – Coach Blaine Woodruff on team win No. 10 at Chattanooga

"It feels good, feels nice to get it done. The first win is good especially with a lot of pressure coming down the stretch, but I kind of just stayed steady. (The sweep with team win too) definitely betters it. It means we all played well this week. In a perfect world, we'd all shoot the same score and all win collectively, but that's not how it works." – Rogers on his first win

"Really, really excited for Evan. Just the work that he puts in...I think he's been trending all year, and he's gotten so much better since he got to school in August. He was already really good, but just fine-tuning little things to where I think he would even say he probably didn't even have his best stuff this week, but still walked away with the win. I think this is just the beginning for him." –Woodruff on Rogers' win

Notes
  • Rogers and Braidech led the way today with matching 70s. Law added 73 with Harris coming in at 75. Whitaker posted the drop with 78.
  • The 20-shot win is the largest winning margin since the last win. That came on March 11 of last year with a 23-stroke triumph at the Babygrande Golf Donald Ross Collegiate.
  • The 845 total is the best since…the 2025 Babygrande Golf Donald Ross Collegiate. The Mocs fired 839 (-25) that win.
  • 19 under is tied for the sixth-lowest score vs par in school history.
  • 35 under as a team over last eight scores (283.63).
  • Today's even-par tally snapped a seven-round run of under par team scores. That's the longest since an 8-round spurt in 2009 (March 30-April 21).
  • Third career top 3 for Braidech. Previous two were both wins.
  • First career top 5 for Harris. He's now 2 under for the season and 12 under over last 13 cards in blue & gold.
  • Last time with three top 5 individual finishes? Yep, you guessed it, the 2025 Babygrande Donald Ross Collegiate: T1, Garrett Engle; T1, Camden Braidech & T4, Dalton Chuba.
  • Also won individually the last time we played in a Murray State spring event with Chuck Long capturing the 1984 trophy.
  • Since Coach Blaine Woodruff's arrival in the summer of 2022, Chattanooga boasts 10 wins and eight medalists with eight different Mocs claiming a win.
  • Next up: Western Intercollegiate, April 13-15, Pasatiempo GC, Santa Cruz, Calif.
