Scouting Chattanooga
The Sandy Mocs (13-3, 5-0 OVC) come into this weekend as one of the hottest teams in the country with a 13-match winning streak, which is the second longest active streak in the nation. All but two of the wins during the run have been by a sweeping 5-0 score. Chattanooga's No. 1 pair,
Maddie Lecik and
McKenna Faychak are the back-to-back defending OVC Pair of the Week, and hold a 13-3 record this season.
Taylor Clark and
Ashli McKenny, who man the No. 4 slot, have the best record among UTC's pairs at 15-1.Â
Scouting UT Martin
The Skyhawks, one of Chattanooga's OVC rivals, comes to town with a 9-4 record, and a 5-2 mark in league play, which puts them in third place behind the Mocs and Lindenwood. When UTC and UTM played each other in March, the Sandy Mocs pulled out a close 3-2 win on the road. The Skyhawks are most recently coming off a 3-1 weekend at the Central Arkansas Spring Break Invitational. They are led by their No. 1 pair, Dylan Sulcer and Riley Rushing, and their No. 2 duo, Reagan McGee and Kayla Bryant, who are each 10-3.Â
The all-time series between UTC and UTM is all-square at 9-9, with the Sandy Mocs winning the last three matches between the two schools.Â
Scouting Georgia State
The Panthers hold a 13-15 record, against a challenging schedule they have played to this point. Georgia State has battled nine nationally ranked teams this year, but haven't been able to win any of the matches against them. The Panthers are coming off a 1-3 weekend at its home tournament, the GSU Digging Duals, where it fell to North Alabama, South Florida, and UAB, before closing out the weekend with a 5-0 win vs. Mercer. Savannah Ebarb and Bella Troncale with a 14-14 record at the No. 1 position, have the most wins among all duos for Georgia State.
The Sandy Mocs will be looking for their first win against the Panthers, as they hold an 0-2 record in the series. The last meeting between the two schools was in 2022 in Atlanta.
Scouting North Alabama
The Lions are 15-11 as they come to campus for the Scenic City Showdown. They were among the schools in Atlanta last weekend for the GSU Digging Duals, where they went 2-2 with wins over Georgia State and Mercer. The previous weekend, North Alabama hosted the Shoals Beach Bash, where it won by a 5-0 sweeping score in all its matches against Spring Hill, Eastern Kentucky, Tusculum, and Austin Peay. North Alabama is led by Selma Robinson and Audrey Gauthier who hold a 15-8 record on Court 1.Â
Chattanooga is 3-5 all-time against North Alabama. The two sides played last year in Florence with North Alabama winning 4-1.Â
Scouting Eastern Kentucky
The Colonels are 16-8 on the year, holding the most wins among NCAA Division I schools playing in the Scenic City Showdown. The 16 wins also ties the program record for most in a season. They are coming off a 4-1 weekend at its home tournament, the EKU Sand Fest. The Colonels defeated Morehead State (2x), Liberty, and Ottawa (Kan.), before falling to Chattanooga 5-0. Molly Shomock and Riley Cutler are EKU's No. 1 pair. Their full record is not available.Â
Chattanooga is 4-2 all-time against EKU in a series that dates back to 2021.
Scouting Berry
The Vikings have established themselves as one of the top NCAA Division III teams in the country, holding an 18-5 record. Berry was also the Division III national runner-up a year ago at the AVCA Small College Championship. The Vikings have defeated teams from all three NCAA Divisions this season, including OVC member, Tennessee Tech. As of late, Berry has won six of its last seven matches. Maddie Whitehead and Kara Schmit are the two players who man the No. 1 slot for Berry. Their full record is not available.Â
Chattanooga is 2-0 all-time against Berry, and has won both matches by a 5-0 score.Â
