Pickett Adds Yanez, Brzozoski to Softball Staff

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- Chattanooga Mocs softball head coach Donald Pickett announced the addition of assistant coaches Brooke Yanez and Ryan Brzozoski to his inaugural staff.

Yanez played collegiately for UC Davis (2018-19), Oregon (2020-22) and UCLA in 2023. She competed for Athletes Unlimited (2023), Chattanooga Steam (2024), Japan Professional League (2025) and the AUSL Chicago in 2025.

"Very excited to have Brooke on our staff," Pickett said. "She has played at a very high level and is a great competitor. She will help develop our pitching staff and be a great addition."

The Ventura, Calif., native is a two-time All-Pac-12 honoree, NFCA All-American Third Team selection, a two-time Softball America Second Team All-American and two-time NFCA All-Region First Team member. In the Big West, she was the 2019 Pitcher of the Year and the 2018 Freshman of the Year. Yanez earned NFCA National Pitcher of the Week honors twice and was a Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week four times.

Brzozoski, who assisted with the Mocs the last two seasons, is elevated to assistant coach by Pickett this season. She worked with the outfield and as a hitting coach while performing scouting and recruiting duties as well as other administrative responsibilities. In her first season at UTC, she helped the Mocs to the 2025 regular season title and assisted Frank Reed in his 1300th career victory last year.

"Ryan brings a lot of knowledge of our program here after being a volunteer coach the last two years," Pickett said. "She also has knowledge of our conference having played for Samford. I'm excited to see her develop our players."

Prior to Chattanooga Brzozoski was a third grade mathematics teacher at Sonoraville Elementary for two years and an assistant coach for the Athletics Gold Tamborra/Vallery softball team. She assisted the head coach with practice plans, in-game decisions and player development.

Brzozoski is a 2022 graduate of Samford University where she was an all-conference selection and earned a spot on the Southern Conference All-Tournament Team. She was a career .300 hitter and played outfield.
