SETTING THE SCENE
- The Chattanooga Mocs ran past against the Wofford Terriers 41-7 in Finley Stadium Saturday evening…UTC is 2-2, 1-0 in the Southern Conference while Wofford moves to 2-2, 1-1 in the league.
- Chattanooga is tied for the league lead at 1-0 with Furman and Tennessee Tech…Terriers are in fourth.
- Two of the winningest programs in league play over the last 15 years entering 2026…the Mocs are first with 74 victories and a .644 win percentage…the Terriers are fourth with 64 wins and a .547 win percentage.
- 50th SoCon opener: 25-25 all-time, 14-13 at home. 11-2 in last 13, 6-2 under Rusty Wright.
- Eighth straight SoCon opener at home (6-2).
- 3-0 against Wofford in league beginnings…all during the Wright era…Chattanooga claimed a 24-13 win on Feb. 27, 2021 against the 11th-ranked Terriers, while the 12th-ranked Mocs blanked Wofford 31-0 on Sept. 3, 2022.
- Wofford entered the contest receiving votes in both major FCS Top 25 polls…Mocs look to re-enter the voting after spending the first week outside of it this season.

- 31-point second quarter explosion...most points in a quarter since 31 against Western Carolina on Sept. 28, 2019...that was also in the second quarter.
- Season highs of 6.0 sacks and 9.0 total TFLs…that came in just 53 plays for the Terriers…the 6.0 sacks are the most since Sept. 30, 2023 at Wofford (6.0).
- The 9-second sequence in the second quarter between the 7-yard Harrison Bey-Buie TD run and 26-yard Jaden Nelson pick 6 was the first back-to-back scores on offensive plays since Sept. 23, 2023 at Samford with a 47-yard pass from Chase Artopoeus to Tyler Smith and 38-yard pick 6 by Alex Mitchell that took 11 seconds.
- Two takeaways for the second straight week with an interception and fumble recovery.
- Mocs entered the contest 8th in total defense nationally (283.3 ypg)…gave up 250 tonight.
- Mocs entered the contest 11th in pass defense nationally (154.0 ypg)…Terriers topped it by four yards (158).
- Mocs entered the contest 16th in first downs allowed nationally (47)…gave up a mere nine tonight.
- The two teams entered today as two of the stingiest FCS defenses in the country with Chattanooga entered the contest 20th in scoring defense nationally (18.8 ppg) and Wofford 28th (21.0)…Mocs lived up to it allowing a season-low seven points.
- 41 points is a season high…had 50 for the season coming into the SoCon opener.
- Ran for 310 yards on 53 carries…5.8 yards per rush…four touchdowns…last time with 300+ vs a SoCon opponent since Sept. 28, 2019 against Western Carolina (400).
- Most rush scores since five against Stetson last season…last time with four scoring runs was 2024 against VMI.
- Dominant running performance meant the Mocs threw just seven times for 46 yards…ended up with 356 yards of total offense.
- Held a huge advantage in time of possession holding the ball for 36:54 including 10:00 in the pivotal second quarter.
PLAYER NOTES
- RB Kevin Lalin had 110 yards on 16 carries and two TDs today…third time with multiple rushing TDs in a game, first as a Moc…15th career 100-yard game, 2nd as a Moc.
- Lalin entered game as SoCon leader and top 10 nationally in rushing yards with 290…now has 400 yards on season…up to 2,658 rushing yards, 3,148 all-purpose in his fourth year of collegiate football along with 15 rush scores and 18 TDs overall.
- RB Journey Wyche posted a career-best 122 yards to lead all rushers…had one TD on 13 rushes…third career 100-yard effort, second in 2026.
- Multiple 100-yard rushers for the first time since Stetson last season (9/13/2025)…29th time in school history.
- 1st time with multiple 100-yard rushers against a SoCon opponent since Reggie Davis (115) and Justus Durant (103) at The Citadel in 2024…Davis was in attendance tonight.
- QB Battle Alberson made his seventh career start…managed the offense in a strong night on the ground…3-7 for 46 yards topping the 1,000-yard mark for his career (1,028 yards).
- WR Ashton Schumann caught all three balls for 46 yards this evening…came into the contest as SoCon leader in yards per reception (19.3)…added to his career numbers with 155 catches for 2,067 yards and 13 TDs.
- Three different running backs scored TDs – Lalin, Wyche & Harrison Bey-Buie…last time three different RBs scored in a game was just last season at Tarleton State: Wyche, Ryan Ingram (Wofford grad) & Justus Durant.
- DE Orlando Daniels has five tackles and two sacks to go with a forced fumble…ties his career high for sacks done twice before when he played at Albion…third multi-sack game as a Moc with 1.5 in wins at Samford and over Furman in 2025.
- DE Jestin Gilmore and DT Isaiah Harvey added 1.5 sacks…they combined on a takeaway with Gilmore providing the strip sack and Harvey collecting the fumble…it set up the Bey-Buie score.
- K Jude Kelley made his 100th career UTC PAT after the Mocs first touchdown…just the 4th Mocs kicker with 100+: Henrique Ribeiro '16 (163), Matt Vick '00 (110) & Nick Pollard '14 (103)…moved up to 5th overall and third among kickers with 221 career points.
- SS Jaden Nelson had his first interception with his 26-yard pick 6 in the second quarter.
- CB Keyshawn Jackson had another pass breakup giving him six for the year…entered the game as SoCon leader and 4th nationally in passes defensed.
