Scott Dayton joined the Chattanooga athletic department in March of 2018. He came to UTC from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Fla.  He manages the academic success and planning for the football team.

Dayton's responsibilities include monitoring student-athletes' progress towards degree and NCAA eligibility.  He also provides advisement on course selection, graduation and career planning, as well as scheduling tutoring and other academic assistance to student-athletes. Throughout his career, he has worked with student-athletes at Florida Atlantic, the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

The football team set set a program record with a 3.14 GPA in the spring of 2020, first time over a 3.0 in a semester.  Football also set program marks with 61 on the A.D. Honor Roll, 52 on the Dean's List and eight with a 4.0 GPA under Dayton's guidance.  
 
A native of Alpharetta, Ga., Dayton earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Secondary Education/History from Clemson University in 2008. He completed his Master’s Degree in Sports Management from Georgia Southern University in 2010. He and his wife, Christine, reside in Chattanooga and welcomed a daughter Clarie in May 2021.
