Having taken the first game, ETSU came out strong in Game 2 looking to take a commanding lead, going ahead 11-5 and 14-7. It would matter little as East Tennessee State responded with an 11-3 run to tie the score at 21-21 before taking a 23-21 lead. UTC would pull back ahead 28-25 before back-to-back kills by junior middle blocker Courtnie McKinney helped put the Buccaneers ahead 29-28.
