Lady Mocs Win Third Straight with 3-0 Victory over The Citadel

CHARLESTON, S.C. ? The Chattanooga volleyball team extended its winning streak to three on Saturday with a 3-0 win over The Citadel as UTC took the match 32-30, 25-20, and 25-22. With the victory, the Lady Mocs are now 11-11 on the season and 6-2 in conference play while the Bulldogs fall to 6-14 and 0-8.

Courtney Barnes led the Lady Mocs' offense on the day with 16 kills, which she has now done in three straight matches. Ashley Yeager and Aurore Kullak each recorded double digit kills, with 10 apiece, in the victory as the Lady Mocs hit .258 as a team.

Senior setter Michaela Huff finished with a match-high 38 assists and Lara Newberry led all players with 19 digs in the contest.

The Citadel was led by Jessica Maas with 15 kills on the afternoon as the Lady Mocs' defense held the Bulldogs to a .159 hitting percentage. Emily Hill finished with a team-high 26 assists and Ashley Winter led the team with 13 digs.

The Lady Mocs were able to take the first set of the match 32-30 thanks to eight kills and a .500 hitting percentage from Courtney Barnes. The opening set saw nine ties as the Lady Mocs led for a majority of the set before the Bulldogs were able to cut into the Chattanooga lead.

From there, the Lady Mocs were able to close out the match by taking the following sets 25-20 and 25-22 to remain unbeaten against The Citadel all-time at 15-0.

The Lady Mocs will return to action on Sunday as the team wraps up its two-game road trip against the College of Charleston at 1 p.m.
