CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga volleyball team could not overcome a slow start dropping its match, 3-0 (13-25, 20-25, 15-25), to Georgia Southern. Sophomore right side Stephanie Harvillle (Morristown, Tenn.) paced the Lady Mocs with 12 kills hitting .417 with five digs.

With the team unable to find its rhythm, junior middle blocker Courtney Barnes (Franklin, Tenn.) recorded six kills and six digs, while junior setter Bailee Chastain (Signal Mountain, Tenn.) set up 28 kills. Freshman outside hitter Kirsten Beasley (Amarillo, Texas) had five kills and sophomore Laura Brock (Cleveland, Tenn.) added four.

Seeing the floor for the first time as a Lady Moc, sophomore outside hitter Sarah Torgeson (Knoxville, Tenn.) registered her first career kill during the third set. Also seeing action today was freshmen middle blocker Christina Teter (Signal Mountain, Tenn.) and freshman Dakota Davis (Cleveland, Tenn.).

In the first set, the Eagles came out flying recording 16 kills on only one error hitting .500 recording a 13-25 victory, while Chattanooga committed six errors and only nine kills. The Lady Mocs had an opportunity to steal the second set with an 18-14 lead, but Georgia Southern rallied scoring 11 of the next 13 points en route to a 25-20 win.

Continuing its blistering pace, the Eagles hit .355 posting 15 kills in the final frame taking it 15-25 and finishing the match hitting .359 and only nine errors. Chattanooga had its best hitting effort at .233, but could only generate 10 kills.
