Lady Mocs Look to Extend Winning Streak to Four

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga softball team will hope to continue its winning ways Saturday as Furman travels to the Scenic City for the beginning of Southern Conference play. The Lady Mocs are currently riding a three-game winning streak after defeating Boston College 5-3 on Saturday.

The victory gave the Lady Mocs their second three-game winning streak of the season. Michelle Fuzzard picked up her third victory of the season and also belted her second home run of 2009. Toni Hutchison continued her stellar start to the season with two hits, while Lauren Flores pitched in with a RBI single. Kaity Holloway closed the game out with her second save of the season.

Brooke Loudermilk made her 2009 after sitting out the month of February rehabbing from offseason shoulder surgery. Loudermilk threw two and two-thirds innings without allowing a run.

Scouting the Paladins           
Furman enters conference play losers of four out of five games. On Wednesday the Paladins split a double header with Presbyterian, losing the first game 4-1 and winning the nightcap 5-0. This season Furman has been led by Abby Robertson and her .353 batting average. Stephanie Field is pacing the team with seven RBI.

Previous Meeting           
Senior shortstop Tara Tembey singled home two runs and freshman catcher Katie Blevins went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI double as Chattanooga completed a sweep of Furman 5-2 at Pepsi Stadium in Greenville, South Carolina. Michelle Fuzzard picked up her fifth win of the season while Brooke Loudermilk picked up save number five on the campaign.

The series with Furman will begin with a scheduled doubleheader at 1 p.m. from Jim Frost Stadium. All youth, eighth grade and below, will be allowed into the game free of charge.
