The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's tennis team opened the 2010 spring season with a 7-0 loss at No. 10 Georgia Tech today.  The Lady Mocs put up a solid effort, but were unable to earn a point against the national-power Yellow Jackets.

Sophomore Shaina Singh (Vancouver, B.C.) and junior Grace Robinette (Chattanooga, Tenn.) took three games in their No. 2 doubles match, but still fell 8-3 to Viet Ha Ngo and Hillary Davis.

Freshman Jenna Nurik (Roswell, Ga.) managed to capture three games against the No. 1 ranked player in the nation.  She fell in straight sets to Irina Falconi (6-1, 6-2) but gained valuable Division I experience.  Sophomore Emily Hangstefer (Signal Mountain, Tenn.) also faced a ranked opponent in singles action.  She fell to No. 66 Sasha Krupina (6-2, 6-2) in the No. 2 match.

The Lady Mocs return to Chattanooga for their next dual against Lipscomb on Jan. 26.  This will be their 2010 home opener set for 5:00 p.m. (E.S.T.) at the Hixson Racquet Club.
