| By:
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's basketball team dropped it season opener on the road at No. 20 Tennessee 82-62 tonight.  The Mocs could not climb out of an early hole and drop to 0-1 on the season.

The Vols jumped out to a 14-3 lead early in the game behind seven quick points from freshman Tobias Harris.  UTC answered with a barrage of three-pointers from Keegan Bell.  The junior from Hazel Green, Ala., hit three straight from behind the arc to cut the Tennessee lead to 21-16 midway through the first half.

Bell's three at the 10:53 mark was the Mocs' last field goal for the next nine minutes of play.  That drought was brought on by 0-11 shooting from the floor and five turnovers, allowing the Vols to go on a 19-2 run to take control of the game.  UT went on to lead 45-26 at the break.

Things didn't get much better for the Mocs in the second half.  UT opened up its largest lead of the game 72-41 at the 6:32 mark on another jumper by Harris.  Harris led Tennessee with 18 points on 7-11 shooting from the field, including 1-1 from 3-pt. range and 3-6 from the foul line.

Tennessee finished with four players in double-figures, including Harris, Scotty Hopson (13), Melvin Goins (13) and Cameron Tatum (11).  Bell led all scorers with 20 points on 6-12 shooting, including 6-10 from 3-pt. range and 2-2 from the charity stripe.  Bell's six three-pointers tied a career-high for the third time.

Junior Omar Wattad was the only other Moc to hit double figures.  He finished with 13 points on 4-17 shooting, 1-11 from behind the arc and 4-5 from the line.  Chattanooga shot 33% from the field and 9-34 (26.5%) from 3-pt. land.  Turnovers also hurt Chattanooga tonight.  UTC coughed up the ball 19 times, giving the Vols 19 points off of those miscues.

The Mocs will look to break into the win column with its home opener on Monday.  UTC welcomes in-state rival Austin Peay on Nov. 15 at 7:00 p.m. (E.S.T.) at McKenzie Arena.  Tickets are available online on GoMocs.com or by calling the UTC Ticket Office at (423) 266-MOCS (6627).  As always, the game will broadcast on ESPN Radio 105.1 FM and on Chattanooga All-Access on GoMocs.com.
