Chattanooga fell to 10-20 on the season and 5-9 in the
Southern Conference, while Appalachian State improved to 17-9 and 8-5 in the
SoCon. Thirteen players had an opportunity as the team and head coach Lisa
Rhodes searched for a lineup that would bring the Lady Mocs back into the match
after dropping the first two sets..
Contributing on the attack was sophomore outside Meagan Ernd
(Munster, Ind.) with five kills, senior middle blocker Courtney Barnes had
four, while sophomores outside Heather Parman and right side Christina Teter
(Signal Mountain, Tenn.) and freshman outside Jennifer Kuroski (Acworth, Ga.)
each totaled three.
At the net, Barnes tied a match-high with four blocks, one
solo, and junior middle blocker Ellie Kuhn (San Antonio, Texas), Ernd and Teter
each registered two assisted blocks.

as they totaled 27 digs and sophomore libero Paula Passmore (Merritt Island,
Fla.) led the team with 11. Scott added six more for Chattanooga.
For the match, Chattanooga totaled 22 kills and had a hard
time finding its rhythm as the Mountaineers started and finished strong
notching atleast 15 kills in each set. The Lady Mocs did force Appalachian
State into a match-high 19 errors.
In the first set, Appalachian State had a slight 9-7
advantage before it went on a five-point run. The home team would go on to
close out the set, 25-15.
The second stanza was similar to the first as the
Mountaineers held a 9-8 advantage before a 10-2 run put them in the lead for
good. They took a 2-0 lead into the intermission, 25-14.
Appalachian State came out of the intermission firing and
took a 7-3 advantage. Then, Chattanooga showed a little resilience battling
back to within one at 9-8 on a kill by Scott. The Lady Mocs would tie the match
at 11 on a block by Kuhn and Kuroski.
Chattanooga took its first lead of the match, 13-12, on
consecutive kills by Kuroski and Teter. The Mountaineers would respond though taking
the next three rallies to force a timeout. The lead would stay at three until a
five-point Appalachian State run provided match point, 24-17.
The Lady Mocs return to action on Sunday at Western Carolina
with the first serve at the Ramsey Center scheduled for 3 p.m. A link to a live
