The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga wrestling team opened the 2010-11 season with a 24-12 loss to No. 14 Kent State today. The Mocs posted three individual wins but could not come away with the team victory.
Senior Cody Cleveland stared his final season at UTC in excellent fashion. Ranked No. 7 in the nation at 141, Cleveland scored a fall at 5:22 against KSU's Chase Skonieczny. That pin pulled the Mocs to within 10-6 in the team race.
Sophomore Josh Condon took a 3-1 sudden-victory in his match against Mallie Shuster at 157. UTC's final win came at 184 when 19th-ranked junior Jason McCroskey downed Casey Newburg 4-3.
The Mocs will be back on the mat on Sunday when they take part in the Hokie Open in Salem, Va.
