Thoughts on today's games:
"We didn't come out ready to play in the first game and it showed. We only had four hits and our pitching wasn't bad. We had runners in scoring position and didn't take advantage of it. It amazes me that we can't come out ready to play."
What was said in between games:
"I told them they weren't focused. Obviously, we plan on getting refocused tomorrow. That has been our big issue is the fact that we don't come ready to play every day. We got pretty good pitching out of Kandice Irwin and Nikki Waters and we got a few good hits. You could tell as we put pressure on them that they didn't seem as eager to come and fight back. Anytime you can do that and give your pitchers a break it's a great thing. We just didn't do that the first game."
Thoughts on Tiffany Baker's record breaking homeruns and Kandice Irwin's record tying save:
"We asked Kandice tonight if she would rather get a save or a win. She said she wanted a save. That is how she has embraced her role. She has came in and thrown some great innings for us and that is a great thing. I wish the whole entire team would embrace their roles as much as Kandice has. I am really proud of her."
"Tiffany Baker has worked so hard to get here. She has worked through injuries, played hurt and played hurting. It is great that she got the record and hopefully she can add many more to it. The next person that come along is going to have a hard time catching her."
Junior Third Baseman Tiffany Baker
Thoughts on breaking the record
"It's over with. It's finally over and now I get to set my own record and go from there."
Thoughts on the games:
"I saw the ball really well in the first game and was making good contact, but I was unable to get anything going. In the second game, I was just trying to get on base and get something started because we were really struggling to get hits."
On the team's motivation for second game:
"Coach Reed came out there and told us we weren't ready to play and that we needed to step it up. We weren't ready for that first game and it showed."
On pitcher's delivery:
"Usually, I struggle with lefties, but this season I have been hitting pretty good against them. I think I have been seeing the ball better off of lefthanders. That pitch I hit was just middle-in and I pulled it."
On the at bats:
"My second homerun came off of a really good at bat. I was proud of that at bat because I was taking pitches where they needed to go. Before I got up there, I had planned on trying to go to opposite field no matter what pitch she threw me. I have been pulling the ball too much and I needed to change it up."
Junior Relief Pitcher Kandice Irwin
Thoughts on breaking the SoCon saves record:
"I am excited but I want to just keep moving on and want our team to make progress and get better. I want to see us succeed in the Southern Conference. I am not really worried about the saves or wins. Ijust want the team to keep winning."
On pitching in today's game:
"I usually throw in the bullpen through games that I am not pitching so it felt the same for me. It was just different being in the game. I was prepared for it from my constant throwing in the bullpen."
Pressure of pitching in a tight game:
"I think there is always pressure, especially if you come in and you are winning. You have the pressure of wanting to keep the lead. I feel like I work better in those situations. And even if those aren't the circumstances, I like to put that pressure on myself to be better and to do well."
