Postgame Quotes
Chattanooga 5, Georgia Southern 4 (11 Inn.)
Eagle Field
Statesboro, Ga.

Head Coach Frank Reed
On the comeback:
“We are becoming known for our ability to comeback. I am not sure that is a good thing always. Sometimes it may come back to bite you. Who would have thought that we would have 15 hits and have to go 11 innings to win a ball game.”

On leaving runners on base:
“We could have easily run-ruled them and been out of here in five with the amount of runners that we left on base. We chose to let them hang around and that is what happens. With 15 hits, you can't be upset with your offense, but we just did not get the timely hits. They turned a couple of double plays against us. It is a win and especially in the conference every one of them counts. This may end up being a big win at the end of the season.”

On Tia Blosser's five hits:
"Five-for-6 in today's game has to boost your batting average. She has done well for us in the three hole knocking in some runs.”

On the performance by Kandice Irwin this weekend:
“We were a little nervous with Kandice because we thought that she was good for six to eight outs and not that many innings. We kept watching, watching, watching with her and her performance today gives us the knowledge that maybe we can use her more down the road.”

On the extended outing today:
“Usually, if they are going to hit her, then they are going to hit her hard. But she got her share of strikeouts today, which showed a lot to me. I think that she has that mind set of letting her come in for a few innings and shut down the opposition. This is big to know down the road that maybe she can go four innings if called upon.”

Kandice Irwin
On the team's play:
“I think that we did well battling back and stayed focused through the whole game. I think that we are a team that likes to comeback and put a little scare everyone. We work well under pressure. I think that we did a great job. We had a lot of hits. Our offense did a great job.”

On giving up the leadoff double in the sixth:
“I tell myself that it is over and done with and I can't do anything about it. I just focus on getting ahead on the next batter, doing my job and letting my defense do their job behind me.”

On the extended relief effort:
“I was just working on adrenaline. I usually warm up in the bullpen, so I am used to throwing a lot. It is just not necessarily in a game situation. I think that adrenaline and everyone being pumped that is what kept me going through the whole game.”

On your pitches today:
“My pitches were working pretty good. Some of them could have been better, but for the most part, I was pretty pleased with the way the pitches worked for me.”

Junior Lyndsey Stiles
On the team unity to keep on coming back:
“I think that we are a team that never gives up. Like in the first game against Georgia Southern, we were down three runs in the first inning. We never give up on ourselves and know that we are a comeback team. No matter how far down we are whether it be in the seventh inning or fifth inning or even the 11
th innings. We know that we can win and are confident with everyone on the field.”

On Kandice Irwin shutting down the Eagles:
“I just think that Kandice is super confident in being a closer. She knows that when she comes in that no one can touch her. Even when she gives up a home run in the 11th inning, she is confident that she is going to strike the next two people out. She has that mentality and the team feels that from her too. We are all so confident in her and love when she comes in. We hate to see when a pitcher get taken out, but we know that she is going to get the job done.”

On the relief after scoring in the 11th:
“It felt really good. I think that has been a problem for most of the year. We have high hitting games, but we are not putting them together and leaving runners at second and third. To finally push those runs across, it felt awesome. Especially for me with Eason being on second base, I was screaming at her to run. It is frustrating when we are so close every single time and it is not like we are not hitting it hard, but they are going right to people. To finally to get the hit, it was awesome and I think everybody felt the same way. A sigh of relief.”
