Postgame Quotes
UAB 3, Chattanooga 1; Chattanooga 2, UAB 1
Frost Stadium
Chattanooga, Tenn.
Head Coach Frank Reed
On the first game:
"We had plenty of offense in the first game, but we didn't have it at the right time. We did the same thing at Georgia Southern. If we come through when we have runners on then we win both games hands down. Instead, we find ourselves in a split."
"We did not do what we were supposed to do. We out hit them against their best pitchers. They had three or four hits and we probably should have won if we could have scored those runners in scoring position. It came back to byte us tonight. It happened this weekend in going 11 innings at Georgia Southern. We had 15 hits and 11 runners left on base in that game. If we continue to do that, then we continue to keep the door open for those teams."
On Kristin Holloway playing second:
"Kristin can play. We have known that she can play. She has worked hard and got the start tonight with Tia [Blosser] getting a slight concussion down at Georgia Southern. I never worried about putting Kristin in there. I thought that she would get one base and score some runs for us. She played pretty good defense, bobbling a couple of balls, but getting the out. She is a solid player and probably will be our starter there next year. The only reason that she is not there this year is because she is playing behind Tia Blosser, who is having an absolutely flawless year."
On the upcoming series against Elon:
"It's a conference matchup so everything matters. Right now we are undefeated and Elon would love to come in here and give us a loss. We would love nothing better than to put some distance between us. They should be great games for people who want to come out and watch."
Junior Third Baseman Tiffany Baker
On the first game:
"We had a lot of hits that game, but not enough runs. We out-hit them by five hits, but we couldn't advance our runners. That was the story of the first game. We need to do a better job, step it up and get things done. If there is runner on second base, we should score her every time."
On the team's adjustments between games:
"We need to do a better job and if we expect to keep going further in regionals and going to super regionals. We just have to step it up. If there is a runner at second, then that runner should score every time."
On the homerun:
"I was seeing the ball very well. I had a decent hit to center, a hit to left, and I had my timing down very well. I was a little too far out in front on the first pitch, the second swing wasn't a power swing, but the homerun swing was big because I was reading the pitcher's body language."
