Head Coach Frank Reed
On the weekend sweep:
"I don't quite understand what happened this weekend. We are facing pitchers with high ERAs and low strikeouts, but we can't hit them. Fortunately for us, we found a way to win, but at some point you have to stop just finding a way and start being dominant."
On picking up the win, but not playing your best:
"If you can't get up to play conference teams, you can't get up to play. I thought we looked very flat at times, but we have to come out strong and bring a different team to the ballpark against Georgia Southern."
Junior Pitcher Nikki Waters
On your curveball today:
"My curve has the tendency to break away, but we have been working on is being faster with my changeup so that the other team can't see it coming."
On her pitching performance:
"I threw a mixture of pitches, but what really dominated was the curve and the change. The changeup worked well today, whereas it didn't early in the season."
On development throughout the season:
"Everything at the beginning of the season was mental and I am beginning to get my head on straight now. I have to know that I am going to go out there and do the best that I can. I am focusing on one pitch at a time."
Senior Pitcher Brooke Loudermilk
On her pitching performance:
"I feel like a made a lot of good strides today because I got to push through my trouble innings, whereas teams have scored in the fifth and sixth and Kandice Irwin has had to come on in relief. She comes in and shuts teams down, but I have to push through tough innings and know that that is what I have to do. This is a good pitching performance to follow through on this week going into the Georgia Southern series. Southern is a great team and we have to beat them right off the bat, rather than play 10 innings like we did today with the eighth-seeded team."
