Mocs Basketball vs. UNCG Postgame Notes

TEAM
- The Mocs improve to 8-8 overall and remain perfect in Southern Conference action at 4-0 with today's 70-65 win at UNC Greensboro...UTC is 4-0 in SoCon play for the first time since the 2007-08 season when they started 7-0...UNCG falls to 0-14 overall and 0-4 in SoCon play.      

- UTC did not score for the first 4:36 of the game, falling behind 8-0...The Mocs were 0-5 from the field with three turnovers to start the game.

- Mocs went on a 27-4 run over the next 10:17 to take a 27-12 lead at 6:14 in the first...it was their largest lead of the game (tied it to start second half at 42-27)...UTC held the Spartans to just one FG in that 10-minute stretch.    

- UTC outrebounded UNCG 45-31...the Mocs have outrebounded their opponents in nine of the last 10 games. 

- UTC had 17 offensive rebounds...but that only led to eight second-chance points...the Spartans got seven second-chance points on just eight offensive boards. 

- The Mocs had three post players foul out in the game, including Saffore, Jefferson and Burroughs...this trio combined for just four points (all from Burroughs).       

- Mocs are now 17-10 all time against UNCG...8-5 in Greensboro. 

- Mocs improve to 5-0 when leading at the half and 6-0 when leading with five minutes left to play...Chattanooga is 5-1 when the score is plus or minus five points with five to play.  

- UTC is 6-2 when scoring 70+ points...8-0 when holding opponents under 70.

INDIVIDUAL
Junior Keegan Bell
- Scored 13 points on 4-8 shooting, 4-6 from 3-pt. range and 1-3 from the FT line.
- 4 3-pt. FGs is his most in a SoCon game since hitting four at Elon on Dec. 17. 
- Was just 2-13 in the previous three games from behind the arc. 
- Season-high seven boards. 
- Season-low one assist.

Junior Jahmal Burroughs
- Career-high eight boards in 14 minutes off the bench.
- Four points on 2-3 shooting. 

Junior Ricky Taylor
- 19 points on 6-16 shooting, 1-7 from 3-pt. range and 6-9 from the FT line.
- Added five rebounds.
- Four-straight games in double-figures.
- Played despite getting food poisoning overnight. 
- Averaging 17.3 ppg over the last four games...despite just shooting 5-24 from 3-pt. range in that stretch. 

Junior Omar Wattad
- Career-high 26 points.
- Shot 8-17 from the floor, 5-8 from 3-pt. range and 5-8 from the FT line.
- Tied a career-high with seven boards.
- Tied a career-high with 37 minutes.
- Career-high eight FGs made.
- Tied a career-high with five 3-pt. FGs.
- Rebounded after a two-point performance in the last game at Austin Peay. 
- Team-high 4th 20-point game of the season.
