Skrine Gets Invite to NFL Combine

| By:
University of Tennessee at Chattanooga senior Buster Skrine is one of over 300 collegiate football players invited to the 2011 NFL Scouting Combine.  Representatives from all 32 NFL teams will be on hand in Indianapolis, Ind., to evaluate the nation's top college football players from February 23 - March 1.

Skrine, a native of Woodstock, Ga., was a two-time First Team All-Southern Conference defensive back for the Mocs.  At 5-10, 185 pounds, he posted a school-record 4.22 40-yard time during his junior year.  He was one of three captains for Chattanooga last season, guiding UTC to a 6-5 record and a third place finish in the SoCon at 5-3.

Skrine played 42 games in his career, including 29 starts.  He posted 155 tackles, 21 pass-break-ups and five interceptions.  He had 39 tackles, eight PBUs and a pick in 2010, despite missing the better part of three games with an elbow injury.  His one-handed, leaping interception against Eastern Kentucky was one of the plays of the season for the Mocs.

Participants in the NFL Combine are determined annually by a Selection Committee. The Directors of both National and BLESTO scouting services, which combined represent twenty-five NFL teams, are joined by members of various NFL player personnel departments to form the committee.

Skrine is the first Moc to be invited to the NFL Combine since Eldra Buckley in 2007.  Buckley is currently a member of the Philadelphia Eagles and joins Terrell Owens (Cincinnati) as the two former Mocs who played in the NFL in 2010.
