CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The Chattanooga Mocs volleyball team played one of its most complete matches of the season on Saturday afternoon in a 3-1 (25-15, 18-25, 28-26, 25-23) loss to College of Charleston at Maclellan Gym. Sophomore setter Bridget Camacho (Cumming, Ga.) registered her fourth-straight double-double with a career-high 52 assists and 11 digs, while four Mocs hit double-digits in kills.

"Today is proudest that I have been of this team," said head coach Travis Filar. "Charleston is a great team and I take nothing from them, whatsoever. Our team feels bad because we were right there in the third and fourth set. I loved how hard we fought and how gutsy our student-athletes played."

Continuing to emerge and develop in the middle for the Mocs has been freshman Kasey Talley (Boiling Springs, S.C.), who posted a season-and-match-high 16 kills.

"Kasey is really starting to understand the offense and things are clicking for her," said Filar. "She has been phenomenal in the past couple of matches from an attacking perspective. She probably would have liked to have a  couple swings back because Charleston was having to commit to her defensively because she was so effective."

Hitting 14 kills each were sophomore outside Jennifer Kuroski (Acworth, Ga.) and junior middle blocker Christina Teter (Signal Mountain, Tenn.). Junior outside Heather Parman (Ooltewah, Tenn.) recorded 12 kills and 12 digs, which was her second of double-double the season and 10th career.

"We are starting to understand how hard we have to fight on defense because we are not the biggest blocking team," said Filar. "Our defenders from Paula [Passmore] to Melissa [Green] to Heather [Parman], who stepped up and played all around for us, played great."

Along with the stellar defense played by Camacho and Parman, junior libero Paula Passmore (Merritt Island, Fla.) dug up a team-best 18 attacks, while freshman Melissa Green (Boca Raton, Fla.) tallied 14.

"We played hard from the front row to the back row," said Passmore. "Everyone was very disciplined, which is one thing that we have been working on the most in practice. We stayed disciplined, deep and were always ready for the ball."

Charleston out-blocked the Mocs nine-to-four, but Camacho notched three and Teter and Talley each had two. There were a total of 31 ties and eight lead changes with 23 ties and six lead changes occurring in the final two frames.

Leading the Cougars was Sarah Havel with 14 kills, while Elyse Chubb, Sloane White and Kerstin Koehler each hit double-figures. Taeler Davis posted 52 assists and Emily Shelton notched a match-high 31 digs.

"Sunday will be a fun day for the city of Chattanooga," said Filar. "Hopefully, we will see a lot of familiar faces, campers from this past summer and a lot of youth teams. It will be a lot of fun and another great fight from our kids in front of our home crowd."

The Mocs conclude their four-match homestand on Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. against The Citadel. The match serve as youth day as Chattanooga will conduct a post-match autograph session.
