CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football head coach Russ Huesman met the media on Tuesday afternoon and discussed the upcoming matchup against Samford in the Southern Rail Rivalry on Saturday. Freshman offensive lineman Kevin Revis (Dayton, Tenn.) also provided his thoughts on how the Mocs can improve following the Furman game.

Chattanooga (4-5, 2-4 SoCon) travels to Samford (5-3, 3-3 SoCom) on Saturday afternoon with kickoff slated for noon (E.D.T.). Be sure to tune into the Mocs Sports Network, ESPN 105.1 The Zone, to hear the call from Jim Reynolds, Todd Agne and Will Poindexter. Head Coach Russ Huesman
Opening Statement:
"It was a very disappointing loss last week against Furman. I don't know if we played particularly well in some areas of the game, but I think Furman probably had a lot to do with that. They played extremely well on defense. They were very physical and had a great scheme. They did an unbelievable job, so give them credit. I thought we played good enough defensively to win, but we did not create enough turnovers. That was probably the biggest concern, but I thought we played well. Then other than the last kick-off return, I thought we played special teams really well all the way across the board. There were some positives that came out of it, but a loss is a loss. We had opportunities, but didn't get it done.

"We just have to regroup. We're playing Samford, and Samford is very, very similar to Furman. They are physical on defense, they take care of the ball offensively and their quarterback is playing as good as anybody in the league right now. Their tailback is, I think, second in the league right now in rushing and is very good. He is probably second in the league on kick-off returns, so he is a very dangerous player. They have two wide outs that are excellent, so they are very similar to Furman. I think if we lose the turnover battle 4-1 this week, then we will be in trouble. Again, it should be an excellent game."

On Samford's offensive scheme:
"They look way different since bringing in the Auburn system. They pose a lot of problems when you look at them. Just the formations and what they do with their formations. The way they try to out-flank you in certain ways, and how they get somebody open that's just unaccountable because of the way they hide people. It was the same way with Auburn. It's not all tricks. They will come off the ball and block you, and their backs are playing really well. They are doing a lot of similar things that Auburn did. The tempo is unbelievably fast. It is night and day between this year's Samford offense compared to last year's Samford offense."

On playing without playoff chances:
"You hope right now that they are thinking about a winning season. We are still playing for that, but I didn't even talk about that Sunday. I talked to them about having pride in everything they do and every game they play. I hope they do, and I hope everybody wants to play and is excited to play. I'm sure there are guys in that room, not many and not any of the real quality players, but I'm sure there are people in there that can't wait for the season to be over. That is human nature, but I didn't get that sense. I think the majority of ours guys are excited to play."

On the offensive struggles against Furman:
"We didn't attempt to throw the ball a bunch. I think they just basically took Terrell Robinson out of the game. Once they did that, it was hard to get the ball to the receivers. I don't think it was anything they did to take our wide outs down as much as it was to take Terrell out of the game."

Freshman Offensive Lineman Kevin Revis
On the offense against Furman:
"They had a good game plan defensively. They had a lot of great players. Furman was a good team. I would say offensively that we did not play as well as we would have liked to. We didn't play as physically as we would have liked to on the offensive line. We didn't perform as good as we could have performed. There is no pin point on one specific group or anything. We just didn't play well as an offense.

On watching the film afterwards:
"It was real tough just seeing how we were one block, one cut, and one read away from a big play in a lot of situations. It was hard to watch how close on so many plays we were. We have to stay mental strong during the game and not get effected by the flow of the game. We were close, but close doesn't get you the win."

On staying mentally strong now with not battling for an opportunity in the playoffs:
"We are all competitive people. We all want to win every game. It is tough knowing that the playoffs are out of the picture. We are like a bunch of brothers out there. You don't want to let your brother down. We still have a winning season on the line. We take a lot of pride in that. We want to play well for each other. The fans have been great. It would be a disservice to the fans, teammates and everybody that watches if we did not play as hard as we could."
