Lady Mocs Travel to Belmont This Weekend

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's tennis team hits the road this weekend for a non-conference match at Belmont.  Chattanooga is looking to improve on its 1-0 start after a season-opening win against Lipscomb last weekend.

"The team is excited about our first road match of the year at Belmont," stated head coach Jeff Clark.  "They are always a tough team, especially at home, so we will have to be at our best.  We are looking forward to building on our performance we had against Lipscomb last week."

Match time is set for 7:00 p.m. (E.S.T.) at the Wildwood Club in Nashville, Tenn.  Be sure to check back to GoMocs.com for a full recap and results.

The Lady Mocs opened the season with a perfect 7-0 sweep of the Bison on Saturday at the Hixson Racquet Club.  Chattanooga won all of the singles matches in straight sets, led by junior Jenna Nurik's (Roswell, Ga.) 6-0, 6-0 sweep at No. 1.  Nurik, a two-time All-SoCon performer, leads the team with a 9-3 singles record this season.

Senior Emily Hangstefer (Signal Mountain, Tenn.) improved to 8-1 overall with a win at No. 3.  Nurik and freshman Kaylene Chadwell (Franklin, Tenn.) improved to 8-1 as a doubles tandem with a win at No. 2.

The Lady Mocs opened the 2011 spring season with a 6-1 home win over Belmont.  Nurik, Hangstefer, Alexa Flynn (Memphis, Tenn.) and Shaina Singh (Vancouver, B.C.) all had singles wins in last year's dual.

UTC is starting a four-match road trip this weekend.  The next home contest is set for Saturday, Feb. 25, against Kennesaw State.  Match time is set for 1:00 p.m. at the UTC Tennis Courts.
