Head coach Matt McCallOverall thoughts on the game:"I really felt like our guys were in the moment the whole game. I never felt like they got really rattled. J.J. Frazier made some really tough shots down the stretch, and we did not get deflated. It was on to the next play. As a coach, I was really proud standing over here with that. I had to calm the bench down some because I thought
Greg Pryor and those other guys did an unbelievable job just keeping the whole team calm out on the floor."
On staying aggressive:"They went zone. They were struggling to guard us man-to-man, so they switched over and went zone. We thought they would play the majority of the game man-to-man, and they did not.Â
"When teams do that and you throw
Peyton Woods out in the game, you have to account for him. He can really, really shoot. I was proud of him in the first half. We chucked him in there and he played well. Late in the game, it was a tough situation for him to be in there. I could see he was a little bit rattled and that is why we ended up going with
Dee Oldham, who made some nice plays down the stretch.
"I wish he would have made those free throws, but he misses and now they can't get set and take a difficult shot."
On the importance of getting off to a good start:"I think that was one of the keys to the game. I think if you watch the tape the last couple of years, Chattanooga struggled in the beginning of the game. Same thing can be said for Florida last year. When you play on the road in an environment like this, it is huge to get off to a good start.  Then, emotionally, you know you have a chance here and you know we can win this game.Â
"I told them at halftime, they are going to make a run. It is not about when they make the run, it is about how you respond to it.Â
On battling back after being down in the second half:"We settled in there, especially when they went up five. I told them in the huddle when we were down five, listen if you have told me this would be the situation, I would take it every night. We are going to go and compete and fight and win this game."
On Justin Tuoyo stepping up late:
"I thought
Justin Tuoyo could have totally gone in the tank because of his fouls. He comes in late in the game, gets a huge rebound, huge tip-dunk. I felt like he did an unbelievable job of moving on to the next play. It was a total team effort tonight and I am really proud of the guys."
Â
Casey Jones, senior, forwardOn the season-opening win over Georgia:"Coach (McCall) was an SEC assistant coach and he said that we would be prepared all week for everything they threw at us. We were prepared all week long for the sets that we will see in their defense in press breaks, and any press that they would throw at us. A big shout out to Coach, because not only did he coach us in that game, but he prepared us."
Â
On being able to get shots off with Georgia's physicality:"It was just as physical, but we took some good shots. It was a battle out there. They played aggressive all game and they just played physical like they did last year. You know we fought back a little bit harder than we did last year.
Â
On becoming more aggressive in the second half:"I did, and I had contested layups that weren't falling in the first half, but did in the second half. I felt like if a lot of those layups didn't go in the first half, then I couldn't be as aggressive. But a lot of my teammates helped pull it out for me too, and I've never been the type of player to be too aggressive. My teammates asked me to step up in the second half because we were in foul trouble, and it was all a good effort."
Â
On overcoming the late deficit:"They had an amazing crowd today. It was crazy. I remember I fell on the ground, looked up on the defensive end and they hit a three, and the crowd went crazy. Coach preaches to us at practice that we need to 'fight the circumstance'. When we went down, that's what he was saying on the bench. The players were saying it on the bench. We just kept fighting. We get put in situations in practice, and they say they make it harder in practice than in a game, and that's what it was today."
Â
Greg Pryor, junior, guardOn win over Georgia:It was a long fought game in overtime. But we took to the things we've been doing the whole game. We needed to get outside the box .We stuck together. We stuck with what we did as a team. We stuck to the men we had on the floor.
How important was a good start in overtime?
It was very important. That's something we put a lot of emphasis on coming into it, starting halves the same rate no matter what, not coming in flat just because we're up one half and the game's close. We've been doing things right. We had to come on edge even more than we were in half before that.
On coaching staff continuing to say 'keep on shooting:'Coach McCall and the coaching staff have been putting a lot of confidence in everyone and their shooting game. We've been working on it a lot, and we've been having a lot of confidence on shooting the ball. We knew if we miss a couple that they'll eventually fall if we're taking good shots.
On the pressure of a game like this:I've been playing since my freshman year. I've played in a lot of games, so the pressure part isn't as present as it was since I first made it to college. I was more focused on my team than I was myself.
