Chattanooga's
Jacob Huesman was named the Southern Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced today. The senior quarterback guided the Mocs to a 31-23 win over No. 20 The Citadel, securing UTC's third-straight SoCon title.
It is the 13th time in his career that Huesman has won a weekly award, and he is now tied with Armanti Edwards (Appalachian State, 2006-09) for the second-most weekly awards in league history. He is only one behind Adrian Peterson, who was honored 14 times during his career at Georgia Southern from 1998-01.
The Mocs earned the SoCon's automatic bid to the FCS playoffs with their win over The Citadel. Huesman completed 13-of-17 passes for 192 yards and rushed 15 times for 118 yards and two touchdowns in the win.
His two rushing TDs gave him 40 for his career, making him one of just four in FCS history with 40 rushing and 40 passing TDs (59). The other three to accomplish the feat are Armanti Edwards (Appalachian St. (2006-09), 65 rush - 74 pass), David Dinkins (Morehead St. (1997-00), 63 rush - 51 pass) and John Robertson (Villanova (2011-15), 48 rush - 65 pass).
UTC hits the road for the regular season finale at No. 16 Florida State on Saturday, Nov. 21. Game time against the Seminoles is 3:00 p.m. (E.S.T.) in Tallahassee, Fla. Fans can catch the game on the Mocs Sports Network on 96.1-The Legend or the television broadcast on Fox Sports Regional.
