The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's tennis team scored a nice 6-1 win at UAB this afternoon.  The Mocs won two doubles and five of six singles to improve to 11-2 overall. 

UTC took the first two doubles matches off the court for a 1-0 lead.  Junior Kayla Jones and freshman Samantha Caswell defeated Carolina Faught and Paula Castro (8-2) at No. 1 to improve to 12-1 in the spring.  They were down 2-0 before running off eight straight games.

UTC snatched the doubles point when senior Kaylene Chadwell and junior Kelsey Coots defeated Pardis Kianoush and Elaine Simon (8-5) at No. 2.  The Chattanooga tandem is 8-2 and on a six-match winning streak since teaming up at No. 2.

Jones gave the Mocs some breathing room with a quick win at No. 1.  UAB's lone point came at No. 2 when Rachel Daniell defeated Coots (6-0, 7-6 (8)).  Chadwell put Chattanooga up 3-1 with a (7-5, 7-5) win over Paula Castro at No. 3. 

Junior Alison Storie clinched the match with a three-set win at No. 6.  Caswell and senior Clarie Mulyadi also had three-set wins at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively. 

“This was a really tough road win for us today against a very good UAB team,” stated head coach Jeff Clark.  “We were really tough in some of these three-set matches and our doubles was really solid today.  It is nice to see us fighting all of the way through and that is what we have to do against these really good teams.”
