Men’s Golf Returns to Tee Monday in Atlanta

A.J. Lintunen shot 10-under over a 54-hole qualifying tournament to make his return to the Chattanooga Mocs starting lineup.

CHATTANOOGA---The Chattanooga Mocs men's golf team is back on the tee Monday at the Autotrader Collegiate. The event returns for a seventh year, all at Berkeley Hills Country Club in suburban Atlanta.
The Mocs have played in all seven editions. If history has proven anything, scoring is at a premium at the short, but precise layout.
The average winning score is a shade less than 21 under par. The winning squads averaged 281.82 per 18. UTC finished second once (2011), third once (2014) and fourth twice (2012, 2013).
Individually, the squad has seven top 10s with Steven Fox (2011, 2012) and Liam Johnston (2013, 2014) finishing as runners-ups over a four-year period. Etienne Brault joined the club last year tying for ninth at 4-under 212.

"This is our seventh year there. It's a place we like to play. You've got to be ready to score. There are a lot of birdies on this course, but there are plenty of places to stub your toe as well. It's a fun challenge."

"That's my biggest concern right now. Can we win this tournament? Yes. But before we can think about winning a tournament, we need to put together three good rounds. In our first three events, we've played well for 36 and struggled on the other 18. Let's put three strong rounds together and see where we stand."

- Long opened the season with a 77 at the Farm. In his last eight rounds, he's 8 under for a 71.00 average over the span with six par or better 18s including two in the 60s.
- Brault's career-best round of 6-under 66 came in the final 18 at Berkeley Hills a year ago.
- Sophomore Will Porter and freshman A.J. Lintunen earned spots in the lineup via qualifying. Long, Brault and Hickam were exempt due to strong play at N.C. State. Lintunen won the 54-hole event shooting 10 under.
