GAME NOTES | ABOUT CHATTANOOGA BASKETBALL
 
CHATTANOOGA---The Chattanooga Mocs welcome sister school UT Martin Saturday night before hitting the road to former arch-rival Marshall the following Tuesday. The busy stretch is nothing new for the Mocs.
 
The team opened the season with seven games in 19 days. That's one every 2.6 nights which makes the three-day swing seem a little easier despite the long bus ride to Huntington.
 
It's a sign of the times. After such a compressed window of games, the squad has 22 days between next six contests leading into the holiday break.
 
UTC has gotten a lift from the football squad. Senior outside linebacker Joshua Phillips is now senior center Joshua Phillips with an immediate impact with a little more than a week on the hardwood including practices.
 
He's averaging 13.5 points and 5.0 boards in 21.0 minutes per contest. He's 13 of 16 (81.3%) from the field including making all six attempts at Akron Tuesday night.
 
According to Nat Dixon, a complete effort is the focus after the narrow loss at Akron earlier in the week.
 
"We started out the first half sluggish" noted the junior from Panama City, Fla. "We need to go back to the drawing board and get that corrected. We need to put 40 minutes together and play like we did in the second half for the entire game. I don't think we started out well tonight and it cost us."

3 NOTES TO KNOW

• Nat Dixon is on a roll over the last five games with 12.6 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. There's a breakdown of his breakout on page 3 of the game notes package which can be found at the link above.
• Tough shooting start in the opening two games at 37.7 percent (43-114) from the field and 31.1 percent (14-45) from 3pt range. Bumped up percentages over last five games making 53.1 percent (137-258) overall including 46.7 percent (50-107) beyond the arc.
• The UTM matchup is one of four regular season games against OVC competition this year. Lost 77-75 to Jacksonville State in OT on Nov. 22 and play at Tennessee Tech (Dec. 17) and JSU (Dec. 21) in the coming weeks. Marshall is the second of three with C-USA (at UAB & Charlotte).
