Mocs Close Regular Season Monday at The Citadel

The Chattanooga Mocs head to Charleston for Monday’s regular season finale at The Citadel.

GAME NOTES | MEDIA CENTER | THE CITADEL

CHATTANOOGA---The Chattanooga Mocs head to Charleston, S.C., for the regular season finale at The Citadel. They do so with a great deal of certainty for the upcoming Southern Conference Championships in Asheville, N.C.

The Mocs are the fourth seed and face No. 5 Wofford on Saturday, March 4, at 2:30 p.m. The rest of their half of the bracket is determined Monday night. The winner of ETSU at UNCG is the top seed with Furman No. 2 and the loser of the Bucs-Spartans in the three slot. The last two teams come from the three-team pool of Western Carolina, VMI and The Citadel.

But that's a story for another day. The Mocs look to continue a torrid streak against the Bulldogs. They've captured the last eight meetings and 20 of the past 22.

The Citadel is led by freshman Preston Parks at 17.9 points per game. Sophomore Zane Najdawi adds 15.0 points and 6.8 rebounds per contest. The Bulldogs are coming off a 102-96 win at Samford Saturday night.

The game airs on the American Sports Network and the WatchESPN app (ESPN3) after the women face Wofford at 7 p.m. It broadcasts over the airwaves on Real 96.1 FM in Chattanooga and worldwide via GoMocs.com as well as the iHeart Radio and TuneIn apps.

5 Notes to Know
  • 17-8 (.680) in last 25 SoCon regular season road contests.
  • Looking for 20th win which would be the fourth SoCon school with 20 wins.  The last time the SoCon had four or more schools with 20 or more wins was 2009-10 (Wofford 26-9, Appalachian State 24-13, Western Carolina 22-12 & College of Charleston 22-12). The only time prior to that was 1952-53 (N.C. State 26-6, Wake Forest 22-7, Furman 21-6 & Richmond 20-7).
  • 48 wins over last two seasons (29-6/19-10). Looking to top 50 for just the fifth time in school history (53, 1982-83; 51, 2015-16; 50, 1983-84; 50, 1976-77).
  • A win gives UTC a 5-4 road mark in the SoCon, 8-6 overall. It would be the 19th time in 40 years in the league with better than a .500 ledger.
  • Justin Tuoyo is 19 blocks shy of his school-record 104 from his sophomore year (2014-15).
