Box Score The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's tennis team dropped a 4-2 match at ETSU today. Weather forced action indoors to the Bristol Racquet Club in Bristol, Tenn.
With only four courts available for a limited time, the day started with singles. Since ETSU clinched the win in singles, doubles were not contested.
ETSU opened with a 2-0 lead after wins at No. 2 and No. 1. The Mocs quickly answered when senior
Rachele Gazzola scored a win at No. 5. That was followed by sophomore
Sydney Patton's win at No. 4 to tie the score at 2-2.
Both sophomores
Caroline Hall and
Mckenzie Barco lost in three sets at No. 3 and No. 6, respectively.
"I was really proud of the fight today," stated UTC head coach
Chad Camper. "We played a very experienced and successful ETSU team and really took it to them. All season long, a lot of things have fallen on our side, but today a couple of things didn't.
The loss drops the Mocs to 11-4 overall and 1-1 in SoCon action. ETSU improved to 6-4 and 1-0 in league matches. Next up for the Mocs are trips to Western Carolina and Wofford next weekend.
