ABOUT CHATTANOOGA BASKETBALL
Â
CHATTANOOGA---Fresh off a thrilling double overtime victory Monday night over UNCG, the Chattanooga Mocs are ready to go on the road for the Smoky Mountain Swing this weekend. It starts Thursday at Western Carolina before a matchup Saturday at ETSU.
Â
Thursday night is a double date for the Mocs and Catamounts. The ladies take the court at 5 p.m., followed by the men at 7:30 p.m. It's the second rematch of Southern Conference slate after Monday's game marked the final league opponent unseen.
Â
Nat Dixon leads the Mocs at 15.0 points per game. He's coming off a 30-point effort in the win over the Spartans and averaged a robust 18.6 points per game for the month of January.
Â
He's played the role of ironman as well. Dixon's 25th nationally in minutes per game (36:41) and has played all but 15 minutes in the 10 conference contests to date.
Makale Foreman is not far behind him in 59th (35:28).
Â
The squad has proven resilient throughout the season. It was never more apparent than the last two games. After losing Saturday in the final seconds to VMI, the Mocs bounced back from an 11-point deficit in the second half and from being down seven with 35 seconds left in the first overtime.
Â
It stands out in neon letters. Down 10 (31-41) at half, first comeback from double-digit deficit at intermission in a SoCon game since Jan. 3, 2008 at Wofford (38-48).
