TEAM
- The Chattanooga Mocs secured a winning season with a 34-27 victory against VMI on Homecoming today … UTC improved to 6-2 overall and 4-2 in Southern Conference action … VMI dropped to 0-8 on the year and 0-7 in SoCon play.
- This is the 22
nd winning season for UTC since moving to Division I in 1977 … 12 of those came from 1977-91 … eighth since 2009.
- UTC is 58-28-3 all-time on Homecoming … 8-2 on Homecoming since 2009 ... only Homecoming losses were 34-17 against No. 17 Appalachian State on Sept. 22, 2012 and 41-17 against Furman last year … 13-8 on Homecoming in Finley Stadium … hosted VMI on Homecoming three other times and all three were wins for UTC ... the last time was a 55-7 victory on Oct. 4, 2014. The other two were in 1998 and 2000.
- Head coach
Tom Arth improves to 6-1 after a bye week in his career. His only loss was to LSU last season … Mocs also beat ETSU last year coming off their second bye in 2017 … Arth was 4-0 after byes at John Carroll.Â
- UTC is 17-7-1 against VMI ... 8-3-1 at home ... 5-1 at Finley Stadium ... only loss was in 2002.
- Mocs held VMI to -16 yards rushing … fewest yards allowed since giving up -20 against Marshall in a 23-7 win on Nov. 2, 1985.
- VMI finished with 313 passing yards … came into the game No. 3 in the nation, averaging 343.1 passing yards per contest.Â
- The Mocs had their streak of scoring on 15 straight trips to the red zone snapped in the first quarter … the last time UTC was stopped inside the 20 was at The Citadel.
- UTC allowed a pick-6 for the second time this season … the other was against Tennessee Tech in the season opener.Â
- Chattanooga picked off its league-leading 10 pass in the first quarter.
- UTC did not punt in the first half. Â
- Seven sacks today is the most since the same total on Dec. 3, 2016 in the FCS Playoffs loss at Sam Houston State … It's the highest total in a regular season contest since seven against Western Carolina on Oct. 13, 2007 in Finley Stadium.

Brandon Dowdell – So.-DB
- 50-yard INT return in the first quarter.
- Third INT of the season.
Khayyan Edwards – Jr.-DL
- Forced two fumbles.
- Two QBHs.
- 1.5 TFLs and ½ sack.
- Two tackles.Â
Jordan Jones – So.-DB
- Four tackles, including 2.0 sacks off the bench.
- Career-highs for sacks and TFLs.
- Also forced a fumble and broke up two passes.Â
Isaiah Mack – Sr.-DL
- Team-high nine tackles, including 3.0 sacks and 4.0 TFLs.
- Career-highs for TFLs and sacks.Â
- 5.5 sacks in the last two games.
- 19.0 career sacks is fourth-place all-time at UTC behind David Tull (37.0),
Keionta Davis (31.0) and Joshua Williams (23.5).
- Half-sack shy of the single-game school record by Tull at Furman (10/12/13) and Tyler Unzicker at ETSU (11/10/01).
- Most sacks in a game since
Keionta Davis had three vs. VMI on Oct. 22, 2016.
- Most TFLs in a game since
Vantrel McMillan had 4.0 against Presbyterian on Sept. 10, 2016.

- Career-high 1.5 sacks.
- Also had four tackles.
Bryce Nunnelly – So.-WR
- Seven catches for 130 yards and a TD.
- 64-yard TD reception in the first quarter.
- Fifth catch of 50+ yards this season.
- Third longest catch of the year.
- Seventh TD of the season.
- 953 receiving yards is seventh most in a season at UTC.
- Fifth 100-yard receiving game of the season … tied for second-most all-time at UTC with Richmond Flowers (2000), Cos DeMatteo (1999) and Joe Burke (1978).Â
Tyrell Price – Jr.-RB
- 19 carries for 44 yards and two TDs.
- Nine rushing TDs this season.
- 10 TDs overall.
- Four catches for 36 yards.Â
Nick Tiano – Jr.-QB
- 21-35 for 285 yards, 2TDs and INT.
- 14 passing TDs against four INTs this season.
- Ran 12 times for 40 yards.
Alex Trotter – Sr.-RB
- Four carries for 21 yards and a TD.
- 19-yard TD run in the fourth quarter was the first score of his career.
Gage Upshaw – Fr.-TE
