Mocs Add Dewald to Signing Class

University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's tennis head coach Chuck Merzbacher announced the addition of Franklin, Tenn., native Jeffrey Dewald to the Mocs 2019 Signing Class today.  Dewald is a four-star prep prospect who competes at the Laurel Spring School.

"We are excited to announce that the top player in Tennessee for 2019, is headed to UTC," stated Merzbacher.  "Jeffrey is committed to his tennis and the development of his game.

"He competes very well, and it is that toughness, combined with his talent, that will enable him to succeed at the college level. He will fit in well with our team, as he also does well in the classroom."

Dewald is the No. 1 ranked player in Tennessee, according to TennisRecruiting.net.  He is among the top 50 players in the Southeast Region and No. 182 in the nation.

Dewald has won numerous youth tournaments in his career and has represented Tennessee at the Southern Cup.  He was on the TennisRecruiting.net Hot 100 list twice over the summer and also earned the Sportsmanship Award at the Southern 1A and Southern Clay Court tournaments.

Dewald is the son of Jeff and Renee.  He has an older sister, Katie, and a younger brother, John.  He joins Rockford, Ill., native Quinten Nevenhoven in the Mocs 2019 recruiting class.
