If you are a fan of the iconic television show "The Office", then this one is a bit of a head scratcher.
Duane Moss seems like such an easy-going guy. How in the world do you get "Dwight" for him?
"Dwight (Duane) is someone you see, but doesn't really speak until you really have a conversation and get to know him," junior forward and roommate
Rod Johnson shared. "When you get to know him, he's one of the funniest guys you'll meet. He has a really dry sense of humor.
"One of the guys called him Dwight one day, and it kind of just stuck."
Okay…but Dwight? Even Duane is at a bit of a loss.
"I've just learned to accept it," Duane chimed in. "I came to the understanding it was going to last.
"Absolutely no comparison between me and Dwight."
Johnson admittedly is not a huge fan of the show. So we turn to Office aficionado
Jonathan Scott who disagrees to a degree.
"When we first met him, he just didn't talk to us. Kind of like Dwight with Jim. Now, it's more like (spoiler alert) the end of the show when they became best friends.
"He's just a funny, goofy, good guy."
So who is right? Are there Dwight tendencies we don't know about, maybe just bubbling under the surface? The only way to find out is to investigate at the source. We asked Duane a set of questions to help clear this up.
Here's the transcript:
GoMocs.com:
The coaches have always praised your basketball IQ, do you think that is one of your top strengths on the court?
DM: "Through concentration, I can raise and lower my cholesterol at will."
Wait, what?
GoMocs.com:
Who do you think started the whole "Dwight" thing?
DM: "It's never the person who you most suspect. It's also never the person you least suspect since anyone with half a brain would suspect them the most. Therefore, I know it to be
Justin Brown…the person who I most medium suspect."
GoMocs.com:
Do you think athletes should be considered heroes?
DM: "No, don't call me a hero. Do you know who the real heroes are? The guys who wake up every morning and go into their normal jobs, and get a distress call from the Commissioner and take off their glasses and change into capes and fly around fighting crime. Those are the real heroes."
We've seemed to have found an inkling of what his roommates see on a daily basis.
GoMocs.com:
Are black bears the best?
DM: "Well that's debatable. There are basically two schools of thought."
GoMocs.com:
Do bears eat beets?
DM: "Bears do not- WHAT IS GOING ON HERE? WHAT ARE YOU DOING?"
Are there two Duanes or Dwights? What have we encountered?
"Identity theft is not a joke," Moss muttered as he walked away.
(Editor's note: Duane Moss is an exceptional human being. Thanks for playing along Duane! Also thank you to the writers of The Office for providing such great Dwight comments and moments that can even translate to somewhat real life.)
