2) Details
It's our annual Fan Appreciation game. Through the magic of Prater's Flooring, McKenzie Arena's majestic floor's Power C is adorned with photos of fans as in recent years. It's one of the highlights of the campaign showing how truly vital Mocs fans are as they literally emblazon the school's mark.
Senior center
Joshua Phillips said it best after a recent triumph, "The crowd is always amazing here. I feel like the crowd tonight really did help us, especially when we were hitting the clutch free throws and clutch shots they were getting real loud for us. I really appreciate the fans coming to the game supporting us."
More on Phillips under Senior Day below.
3) History
Meeting: 39th
Overall: 23-15
In Chattanooga: 13-4
SoCon Regular Season: 20-14
Last 10: 7-3
4) Senior Day
It's Senior Day. When the season started, that meant very little to the youngest team in DI basketball. There was nary a senior to be found. Then center
Joshua Phillips decided to return to the court after two years on the gridiron for the Mocs. He started his collegiate career as a basketball student-athlete at Middle Tennessee performing for three campaigns.
- Joshua Phillips has more points (190) and rebounds (120) in 20 games than his 65-game, three-year career at Middle Tennessee (83/107).
- Phillips shot 46.5 percent (20-43) over his first 17 games at the free throw line. Over the last three? 76.2 percent (16-21).
- Phillips is coming off his best statistical game of his career with 16 points and a career-best 13 boards at Furman. He's averaging 14.7 points and 7.7 rebounds per contest over the last three.
5) Three Notes to Notice
- Three straight games making 80 percent or better from the free throw stripe. Shot just 69.4 percent (152-219) over first 12 league matchups, 85.2 percent since (46-54). The Mocs' 88.0 percent (22-25) effort vs. Mercer was their best in league play since 90.0 (18-20) at UNCG on Jan. 2, 2017.
- Makale Foreman is 11th nationally in total minutes played with 994. He's played 40 or more minutes six times, five in league play.
- Makinde London is 24 for his last 26 at the FT line (92.3%).
