Andrew Weathers and the Chattanooga Mocs tackle a solid field in a unique format at the Southern Intercollegiate Monday.

CHATTANOOGA---The Chattanooga Mocs men's golf team returns to the tee Monday in a unique event. The squad takes on a solid field at the Southern Intercollegiate in Athens, Ga., at Athens Country Club.
It's a one-day, 36-hole event. Each of the 18 teams in the field play in a different format. All five team members play together in a shotgun start. First round is slated for 9 a.m., with the second coming at approximately 2 p.m.
The Mocs finished sixth a year ago in a field that included three top 25 teams along with three more ranked 44th or better. They were ninth after 18 holes but a 282 over the second 18 vaulted the group into sixth at 1-over 577. Etienne Brault led the way with a 2-under 142 which tied for 12th topping two top 30 performers, No. 30 Blaine Hale of Oklahoma by four, and No. 22 Spencer Ralston from Georgia by nine.

3 NOTES TO KNOW
- Last year's Southern Intercollegiate was the site of the Mocs last top 25 win topping the host, No. 19 Georgia, by three. More impressive, UTC played without All-SoCon performer Wes Gosselin who was at PGA Canada Tour Q School.
- Johnson is on a roll playing his last nine rounds at E including a 79 in ridiculous condition in the first round of the East Bay Deli Classic on Kiawah Island in October. Seven of his nine par or better 18s came over the span of the last nine cards with an average of 72.00.
- Luke Long was the only Moc to start all five fall events. He posted two top 10s, three top 20s and four top 25s to open his career in blue and gold. His 72.73 stroke average is supported by nine par or better cards. His vs. par score of 0.73 to date currently ranks 8th in the UTC record books.
