Junior Will Porter and the Chattanooga Mocs begin play Monday at the Hummingbird Intercollegiate in North Carolina.

CHATTANOOGA---The Chattanooga Mocs men's golf team has had its time to celebrate. Coming off a win two weeks ago in Memphis, they look for No. 2 this week at the Hummingbird Intercollegiate.
The two-day, 54-hole event tees off Monday with 36 holes at the Country Club of Sapphire Valley. That's followed by a final 18 Tuesday. According to Coach Mark Guhne, a complete performance is the goal.
"You always want to win," Guhne shared. "It's why we compete. The important thing is not to think about winning, but to continue to do what made us successful the last time out.
"We're looking for solid play 1-5 (in the lineup). You can't count on someone setting school records."
Oliver Simonsen and Will Porter did just that in Memphis. Simonsen set the 54-hole scoring mark with an incredible 21-under performance, a total of 195, in claiming the individual victory. Porter posted a career-low 209 (-7) finishing third.
That duo is joined by freshman Alex Cobb and seniors Lake Johnson and Etienne Brault. Cobb's 69 in the final round at Memphis was pivotal in the group earning the two-stroke triumph over the host Tigers. Freshmen Leon Bader and Moritz Lammel are playing as individuals.

3 NOTES TO KNOW
- Not trying to get ahead of ourselves, but the last time the Mocs won back-to-back events? 2012. The first in that run was the Southern Conference Championships followed by the NCAA Bowling Green Regionals. In the regular season? September 2008 capturing the opening two events en route to the first No. 1 ranking in the program's history. They captured the Aldila Scenic City Invitational at 45 under then one of the signature wins at the Carpet Capital Collegiate.
- The first and third for Simonsen and Porter was the first time since the 2012 Bowling Green Regionals with two players in the top 5. PGA Tour member Stephan Jaeger won it with a then school-record 203 (-13) with Steven Fox third at 211 (-5) in the team's triumphant effort.
- Last time recording a trio of under par team scores before 286, 285 and 280 in Memphis? 2016 Mobile Sports Auth. Int.: 285-283-284=852.
