Postgame Quotes
Lamont Paris, Head Coach
Overall thoughts on growth from practice to the game.Â
"A lot of growth. There were a lot of practices that we've had in there. We got plays, timing of things, sure. This was our first game so growth is evaluated more in games, real growth, what you really want to accomplish. I thought we grew in every normal way that we should have in the amount of time we've had. It was our first time. We did some stuff like coming out in the second half with a response to what they did in the first half. I think we have grown at a good rate. Guys are more mature and know the level of intensity they need to play with, they're learning that. We'll really be able to tell that when we're faced with some more games."
David Jean-Baptiste, Jr.-G
Overall thoughts after today's game.
"I think we got to see where we stand and the foundation of our team. We got to see how we responded to adversity after a tough first half and it's good to see that this team has some fight in us this early."
On playing in a real game environment.
"It was fun. At first, you have to get a feel of the game and a new season after playing each other for so long. It felt a little different at first, but once we started playing we got settled down and it was fun to play against somebody else."
Rod Johnson, Jr.F
On feeling of coming back after injury.
"It feels great. It feels great to be back on the floor after being out for however long it's been. To have a decent game in the first game back was big for me. It gave me more confidence and momentum swing to keep going, keep pushing, keep improving. It was big for me. I'm not where I was. I have a lot to work on. To knock off a little rust and get back in a game situation against a different team and not my teammates every day, it shows me what I need to work on. It shows that I have to have that ability to defend no matter whether it's a guard or a big."
On biggest team takeaway.
"I would say the biggest thing for us is our team comradery. We've been coming together a lot more and we're showing that when we have tough days other guys step up to the plate and perform. We picked it up in the second half and it showed that we're mature and can get through the little stumps."
